Farahdina (2016) Pengaruh Paparan Subkronik Debu Vulkanik Gunung Kelud Terhadap Kadar Sgot Dan Sgpt Pada Tikus Model Diabetes Melitus. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Volcanic ash is fragmented particle of volcanic rock that can be inhaled and cause health problems through increased oxidative stress, systemic inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction. Oxidative stress and systemic inflammation can reach the liver and induces kupffer cells to produce pro-inflammatory cytokines that lead to liver damage. SGOT and SGPT serum are sensitive indicators for liver damage. This research is aimed to determine the effect of subchronic volcanic ash exposure against the level of SGOT and SGPT in the metabolic disease that affects many, namely diabetes mellitus. Experimental study using “Post Test Only Control Group Design” was conducted into male rats. Samples were selected by random sampling and divided into five groups, namely Normal(N), diabetes mellitus(D), dosage 1 (DVA), dosage 2 (DVB), and dosage 3 (DVC), each group contained 4 samples. The results showed that there were significant differences in blood serum SGOT levels between groups with p value = 0.023 (p <0.05) (One-Way ANOVA test). Meanwhile, the results of serum SGPT levels p value = 0, 248 (p> 0.05) (One-Way ANOVA test), and showed that there were no differences in the blood serum SGPT levels between groups. The conclusion of this study is the subchronic exposure of volcanic ash affect serum SGOT and SGPT levels, which is statistically, affect significantly serum SGOT and affect insignificantly SGPT levels serum.
