Abstract
Semut Api (Solenopsis sp.) merupakan serangga menyengat untuk pekerja luar ruangan. Untuk sebagian besar hama, penghapusan total hampir mustahil, tetapi adalah mungkin untuk mengendalikan semut api. Oleh karena itu, banyak bahan kimia dan non kimia penolak serangga adalah metode yang sangat diinginkan untuk memberantas sengatan serangga. Namun, menggunakan bahan kimia memiliki risiko tinggi untuk menyebabkan efek negative pada manusia. Oleh karena itu, menggunakan pembasmi alami dari tumbuhan dan herbal sebagai penolak serangga telah menjadi cara alternatif untuk mengendalikan hama ini. Sebuah penelitian tentang pengaruh konsentrasi yang berbeda dari daun salam (Laurus nobilis) ekstrak sebagai penolak terhadap semut api (Solenopsis sp.) telah dilakukan pada penelitian ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan tiga konsentrasi yang berbeda dari daun salam (30%, 40%, 50%) untuk mengusir semut api untuk jangka waktu 6 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji One Way ANOVA. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, konsentrasi yang berbeda memberikan efek memukul mundur berbeda. Menurut analisis, ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari repellency antara semua konsentrasi ekstrak tetapi tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari repellency. Menurut analisis, itu menunjukkan bahwa daun salam memberikan efek perbedaan yang signifikan pada repellency di setiap jam pada setiap kelompok perlakuan dan konsentrasi (semua nilai p = 0,000; p <0,05). Tetapi ditemukan bahwa daun salam memberikan efek perbedaan signifikan pada repellency di setiap konsentrasi pada setiap waktu pemaparan, (p> 0,05). Berdasarkan uji tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa dosis optimum daun salam sebagai obat adalah 50% dan waktu terbaik adalah jam pertama selama enam jam dari percobaan. Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak ethanol daun salam (Laurus nobilis) memang memiliki efek yang cukup terhadap penolakan semut Api (Solenopsis sp.).
English Abstract
Fire Ants (Solenopsis sp.) are stinging insects to outdoor workers. For many pests, total elimination is almost impossible, but it is possible to control them. Therefore, many chemical and non-chemical repellents are highly desirable method to eradicate form insect stings. However, chemicals considerable have a high risk to cause negative effects on humans. Therefore, using natural repellent from plants and herbs as insect repellents has become an alternative way to control these pests. A research on the effect of different concentrations of bay leaf (Laurus nobilis) extract as a repellent towards fire ants (Solenopsis sp.) has been performed. This research was an experimental laboratory research using three different concentrations of bay leaf (30%,40%,50%) to repel the fire ants for a period of 6 hours. The obtained data was analyzed using One Way ANOVA test. Based on the analysis, different concentrations gave different repelling effects. According to the analysis, it showed that Bay leaf gives significant difference effect on repellency in every hour at each treatment group and concentration (all p value = 0.000; p<0.05). But it was found that Bay leaf gives no significant difference effect on repellency in every concentration at each time exposure, (p>0.05). Based on One Way ANOVA test it can be concluded that the optimum dose of bay leaf as a repellent is 50% and the best time is the first three hours during the six hours and 24 hours of the experiment. From this research, it can be concluded that ethanol extract of bay leaf (Laurus nobilis) does have sufficient repellence effect towards Fire Ants (Solenopsis sp.).
