Zahra, Nurita (2015) Pengaruh Perendaman Basis Akrilik Pada Peranti Ortodonti Lepasan Dalam Infusa Daun Sirih (Piper Betle L.) Terhadap Jumlah Sel Candida Albicans Secara In Vitro. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
Pemakaian Alat Ortodonti Lepasan Terus Menerus Dapat Menghalangi Pembersihan Alami Mukosa Di Bawah Basis, Mengakibatkan Perlekatan Candida Albicans. Keadaan Ini Menyebabkan Keradangan Mukosa Mulut Atau Denture Stomatitis. Studi Epidemiologi Membuktikan Prevalensi Denture Stomatitis Cukuplah Tinggi, Yaitu 15% Hingga 70%. Pencegahan Denture Stomatitis Adalah Dengan Menjaga Kebersihan Alat Lepasan Dengan Merendamnya Dalam Desinfektan. Desinfektan Yang Banyak Digunakan Memiliki Harga Relatif Mahal Dan Terbuat Dari Bahan Kimia Yang Dapat Mengubah Sifat Basis Akrilik. Oleh Karena Itu Diperlukan Antifungal Berharga Murah Yang Memiliki Resiko Minimal Terhadap Kerusakan Akrilik, Misalnya Infusa Daun Sirih (Piper Betle L.). Penelitian Ini Bertujuan Mengetahui Pengaruh Perendaman Basis Akrilik Pada Peranti Ortodonti Lepasan Dalam Infusa Daun Sirih (Piper Betle L.) Terhadap Jumlah Sel Candida Albicans Secara In Vitro. Studi Eksperimental Dilakukan Terhadap Candida Albicans Dengan Metode Spektrofotometri. Kelompok Perlakuan Yaitu Kelompok Perendaman Infusa Daun Sirih Dengan Konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%, Serta Kelompok Kontrol Positif Dengan Chlorhexiddine Gluconate 0,2%, Dan Kontrol Negatif Dengan Aquades Steril. Berdasarkan Uji Statistik One Way Anova (P<0,05), Didapatkan Perbedaan Bermakna Antara Jumlah Sel Candida Albicans Pada Tiap Kelompok Perlakuan Dan Kontrol, Meskipun Konsentrasi 20% Tidak Berbeda Signifikan Dengan Konsentrasi 40% Begitu Pula Sebaliknya. Selanjutnya, Dari Uji Korelasi Pearson Didapatkan Adanya Hubungan Yang Sangat Erat Dan Berkebalikan Antara Besarnya Konsentrasi Dengan Jumlah Sel (Nilai Korelasi (R) = -0,972). Dari Penelitian Ini Dapat Disimpulkan Adanya Pengaruh Perendaman Basis Akrilik Pada Peranti Ortodonti Lepasan Dalam Infusa Daun Sirih (Piper Betle L.) Terhadap Jumlah Sel Candida Albicans Secara In Vitro. Penelitian Lebih Lanjut Masih Diperlukan Untuk Mengetahui Efek Infusa Daun Sirih.
English Abstract
The Continual Usage Of A Removable Orthodontic Appliance Can Hinders The Natural Cleansing Underneath The Base, Resulting In The Attachment Of Candida Albicans. It Causes The Inflammation Of Oral Mucosa Or Known As Denture Stomatitis. Epidemiological Studies Proving The High Prevalence Of Denture Stomatitis, Which Is 15% To 70%. The Prevention Is To Keep The Removable Appliance Clean By Submerging It In Some Disinfectant. The Disinfectants That Widely Used Are Relatively Expensive And Are Made Of Chemicals That Can Alter The Properties Of Acrylic Base. Therefore, We Need A Low Price Antifungal Which Also Can Minimize The Risk Of Damaging The Acrylic, For Example Is Betel Leaves (Piper Betle L.) Infusion. This Study Aims To Determine The Effect On Submerging The Acrylic Base Of Removable Orthodontic Appliance In Betel Leaves (Piper Betle L.) Infusion To The Number Of Candida Albicans Cells In Vitro. Experimental Studies Conducted On Candida Albicans By Spektrofotometri Method. Treatment Groups Are The Ones That Submerging The Acrylic In Betel Leaves Infusion With Several Concentrations, Such As 20% , 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%, With A Positive Control Group Using Chlorhexiddine Gluconate 0.2%, And A Negative Control Group Using Sterile Distilled Water. Based On One-Way Anova Statistical Test (P <0.05), It Showed Significant Differences Between The Number Of Candida Albicans Cells In Each Treatment Group And The Control, Although The Concentration Of 20% Did Not Differ Significantly With The Concentration Of 40%, Vice Versa. Furthermore, Pearson Correlation Test Showing A Very Close And Inverse Relationship Between The Amount Of Concentration And The Number Of Cells (Correlation Vallue (R) = -0.972). From This Study We Can Conclude That There Are Some Effects On Submerging The Acrylic Base Of Removable Orthodontic Appliance In Betel Leaves Infusion (Piper Betle L.) To The Number Of Candida Albicans Cells In Vitro. Further Studies Are Needed To Determine The Effect Of Betel Leaves Infusion
