Abstract
Ascariasis merupakan suatu infeksi cacing yang disebabkan oleh Ascaris lumbricoides. Infeksi cacing di Indonesia memiliki angka prevalensi yang cukup besar, yakni 60-90%. Terapi ascariasis saat ini masih menggunakan antihelmintik yang bersifat non herbal. Pengobatan yang berasal dari alam kini semakin marak diminati oleh masyarakat, oleh karena itu perlu dicari alternatif antihelmintik lain yang efeknya cukup baik, mudah penggunaannya dan mudah diperoleh masyarakat. Salah satunya daun suji yang memiliki kandungan flavonoid, saponin dan steroid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun suji memiliki efek antihelmintik terhadap cacing Ascaris suum secara in vitro. Desain penelitian ini mengunakan eksperimental laboratorium dengan rancangan the post only controlled group design. Konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun suji yang digunakan yaitu 20%, 30% dan 40%, serta NaCl 0.9% sebagai kontrol negatif dan pirantel pamoat sebagai kontrol positif. Daya antihelmintik ditentukan dengan menghitung Lethal Concentration 100 atau LC100 dan Lethal Time 100 atau LT100. Hasil uji Komogorov-Smirnov menunjukkan bahwa sebaran data normal ( p>0.05). Kemudian hasil Analisis Probit menunjukkan bahwa LC100 ekstrak daun suji adalah 39.48% dan LT100 nya adalah 9 jam 50 menit. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun suji memiliki daya antihelmintik terhadap cacing gelang babi (Ascaris suum, Goeze). Perlu dilakukan uji toksikologi untuk mengetahui keamanan ekstrak daun suji sebagai antihelmintik sebelum diaplikasikan pada manusia.
English Abstract
Ascariasis is a helminth infection caused by Ascaris lumbricoides. Indonesia has a high prevalence of helminth infection number, range from 60-90%. Ascariasis therapy currently still uses antihelmintic. Treatment of natural origin is increasingly widespread demand by the public, therefore there is a need to look for another alternative antihelmintic that is quite good, easy to use and easily retrieved by community. One of them is suji leaves that contain flavonoid, sapponin and steroid. This study aimed to prove the effect of ethanolic suji leaves extract against Ascaris suum in vitro. This sudy is a laboratory experimental with the post only controlled group research design. The research used suji leaves extract with concentration of 20%, 30% and 40% and NaCl 0.9% as negative control and pyrantel pamoate 1% as positive control. Antihelmintic power was determined by counting Lethal Concentration 100 or LC100 and Lethal Time 100 or LT100. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test result showed that the distribution of data was normal (p>0.05). Then Probit Analysis results showed that the LC100 of suji leaves extract is 39.48% and its LT100 is 9 hours 50 minutes. Those results indicated that the extract of suji leaves has antihelmintic effect against pig roundworm (Ascaris suum, Goeze). Toxicology test needs to be done to determine the safety of suji leaves extract as antihelmintics before applied to humans.
