Efektivitas Ekstrak Etanol Daun Ciplukan (Physalis minima) Sebagai Antifungi dalam Menghambat Pertumbuhan Candida albicans Secara In Vitro

Aisyah, DewiNur (2015) Efektivitas Ekstrak Etanol Daun Ciplukan (Physalis minima) Sebagai Antifungi dalam Menghambat Pertumbuhan Candida albicans Secara In Vitro. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Vulvovaginal candidiasis is one of vaginal infection, which affects women in reproductive age at least once during their lifetime, and about 40-50% of them suffered candidiasis vaginalis repeatedly. This infections are often caused by fungus C.albicans. The current antifungal medicine cause adverse side effects such as gastrointestinal disorders, irritation, allergic reactions, hepatitis, and endocrine disorders. Therefore, the study is necessary to acquired an alternative antifungal, example ciplukan plants. Ciplukan leaves are wild plants which containing alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and terpenoids. The purpose of this study to prove the antifungal effects of ethanol extract from ciplukan leaves on growth of C.albicans in vitro. This study used an experimental design laboratory with dilution method to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the ethanol extract from ciplukan leaves. The concentration of ethanol extract from ciplukan leaves that used were 5%, 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 10% and 11%, whereas the density of C.albicans was 104 CFU/ml. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of this study was 10%. The result of statistical test showed that there are differences in antifungal effect at any concentration of ethanol extract from ciplukan leaves on growth of C.albicans colony. The result of Spearman correlation test was R=-0.942, which mean the increase concentration of ethanol extract from ciplukan leaves have inhibited growth of C.albican colony. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract from ciplukan leaves have antifungal effect on C.albicans.
