Isnani, RitsyaAulia (2015) Uji Potensi Ekstrak Ethanol Rimpang Jahe (Zingiber officinale.) Sebagai Insektisida Terhadap Nyamuk Aedes aegypti Dengan Metode Semprot. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Mosquito of the genus Aedes sp is a mechanical factor of various diseases. Mosquito eradication with synthetic organic insecticides can stimulate the occurrence of self adaptation of insects to insecticides that will be passed down to the next generation. Therefore, it is needed to get alternative insecticides that are safer for the environment. One of them with use the ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale) extract. Active content of ginger rhizome that allegedly useful as an insecticide is the sesqueterpenoid and flavonoid. The aim of this research is to find out the potential of insecticide extracts ginger rhizome against mosquito of the genus Aedes sp. This research was experimental research using pure laboratoris method of post test only control group design. Repetition was performed four times at intervals of minute time, they are 10th minute, 20th minute, 30th minute, 40th minute, 50th minute, 60th minute, and 1440th minute. The sample used are 25 mosquito of the genus Aedes sp per treatment. The treatments using ginger rhizome extract concentration with quantity of 5%; 7,5%; 10%; and positive controls solution of malathion 0.28%. The research results showed that the maximum potential insecticide 100% first time achieved by the concentration of extract 7.5% at the 1440th minute, then followed by 5% concentrations with the potential peak of 99%, and 2.5% concentration with the potential peak of 95%. The Pearson correlation test had results R=0,721 for time correlation and R= 0,469 for concentration correlation, obtained as a result of that there is a strong until moderate link between a positive direction and a large concentration of ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale) extract and the length of time of observation with the potential insecticide. The conclusion that can be drawn is extract of ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale) can be potentially as insecticides to mosquito of the genus Aedes sp. The Potential insecticides are not only influenced by the amount of concentration, but also influenced by the length of time of observation.
