Abstract

Tingginya prevalensi kecacingan di Indonesia membutuhkan upaya penanganan yang efektif karena resiko yang dapat ditimbulkan terutama pada anak-anak seperti gangguan gizi, ileus obstruktif dan gangguan pertumbuhan. Banyak obat-obatan yang efektif untuk menangani kecacingan namun memiliki efek samping yang merugikan kesehatan dan harganya mahal, karena itu perlu dilakukan upaya pemanfaatan tanaman obat sebagai alternatif dalam pengobatan kecacingan. Serai (Cymbopogon nardus) diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu obat alternative karena memiliki kandungan flavonoid, saponin dan sesquiterpene yang dipercaya memiliki daya antihelmintik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya antihelmintik ekstrak daun serai (Cymbopogon nardus) terhadap cacing Ascaris suum secara in vitro, dengan mencari lethal time (LT 100 ) dan lethal concentration (LC 100 ) dari ekstrak etanol daun serai. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental laboratorium dengan rancangan penelitian post test only controlled group design. Sampel terbagi atas 7 kelompok perlakuan dengan 5 kelompok perlakuan menggunakan ekstrak etanol serai konsentrasi 20%, 22,5%, 25%, 27,5% dan 30%, kontrol positif menggunakan pirantel pamoate 1% dan kontrol negatif menggunakan larutan PBS yang mengandung 1% bovine serum. Kematian cacing dinilai tiap periode pengamatan selama 24 jam dan selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas Kolmogorov-Smirnov test dan uji homogenitas menggunakan levene test , dilanjutkan dengan analisis probit menggunakan program Minitab 15 . Hasil analisa probit menunjukkan LC100 ekstrak etanol daun serai (Cymbopogon nardus) adalah 29,17% sedangkan LT100 pada konsentrasi 30% adalah 10 jam 47 menit. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun serai memiliki efek antihelmintik terhadap cacing Ascaris suum secara in vitro.

English Abstract

The high prevalence of worm infestation in Indonesia requires an effective treatment efforts because the risks that can arise especially in children such as nutritional disorders, obstructive ileus and growth disorders. Many drugs are effective in treating intestinal worms but has adverse health effects and expensive, because it is necessary to use medicinal plants as an alternative in the treatment of intestinal worms. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) is expected to be one of the alternative medicine because it contains flavonoids, saponins and sesquiterpene which is believed to have the effect as anthelmintics. This study aims to determine the power anthelmintics leaf extracts of lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) against Ascaris Suum in vitro, by seeking lethal time (LT100) and lethal concentration (LC100) of ethanol extract of leaves of lemongrass. This research is an experimental laboratory with post test only research design controlled group design. Samples were divided into 7 groups treated with 5 treatment groups using ethanol extracts of lemongrass concentration of 20%, 22.5%, 25%, 27.5% and 30%, a positive control using pyrantel pamoate 1% and a negative control using PBS solution containing 1 % bovine serum. Death worm assessed each period of observation for 24 hours and then the data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for normality and homogeneity test using levene test, followed by probit analysis using Minitab 15. The results of the probit analysis showed LC100 ethanol extract of leaves of lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) is 29.17% while the LT100 at a concentration of 30% is 10 hours 47 minutes. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of the leaves of lemongrass has the effect of anthelmintics against Ascaris Suum in vitro.
