Abstract

Jamur Candida albicans dikenal sebagai penyebab tesering infeksi pada vagina. Sekitar 70%-80%, Candida albicans menyebabkan infeksi yang tersering dari candidiasis superfisial dan sistemik. Beberapa terapi yang dipakai untuk mengatasi kandidiasis ini banyak mengalami resistensi. Selain itu, obat antijamur memiliki efek samping yang mengganggu. Pengobatan yang efektif terus dicari dalam penemuan senyawa antifungi. Salah satunya adalah saponin, flavonoid dan tannin yang terdapat dalam daun marjoram (Origanum majorana L.) telah diduga sebagai senyawa antifungi yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak etanol daun marjoram terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans secara in-vitro . Sampel diperoleh dari isolat Candida albicans di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi FKUB. Konsentrasi ekstrak yang dipakai yaitu 16%, 17%, 18%, 19%, 20%, 21%, 22%, dan KK. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode dilusi tabung. Hasil statistik one-way ANOVA menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada perubahan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun marjoram terhadap jumlah koloni Candida albicans (p<0,05). Uji korelasi menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang erat antara konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun marjoram dengan jumlah koloni jamur Candida albicans (Korelasi, r= -0,974; p<0,05). Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun marjoram mempunyai efek antifungi terhadap jamur Candida albicans dengan Kadar Hambat Minimal 17% dan Kadar Bunuh Minimal 22%.

English Abstract

Candida albicans fungus are known as the most often cause of vaginal infection. About 70-80% of Candida albicans give the most often disease of systemic and superficial Candidiasis. Some therapy for candidiasis have been resist. In addition, medicine from antifungal group has inconvenient side effects. An effective treatment is still in quest in the form of antifungus compound, one of them is saponin, flavonoid, and tannin which is compound in marjoram leaves that has been presumed as an effective antifungus. This research’s goal is to identify the effectivity of marjoram leaves extract against the growth of Candida albicans in vitro. The sample is obtained Candida albicans isolate from Microbiology Laboratory of Medical Faculty of Brawijaya University. The extract concentrate used is 16%, 17%, 18%, 19%, 20%, 21%, 22%, and KK. The method used is tube dilution. The result of one-way ANOVA statistics shows there is a significant difference in the change of marjoram leaves extract concentration to the amount of the Candida albicans colony (p<0,05). The correlation test shows there is a strong relation between the extracted concentrate and the colony amount (the correlation, r=-974: p<0,05). Based on this research it can be concluded that the marjoram leaves extract has an antifungus effect against Candida albicans with minimum levels of inhibitory percentage of 17% and minimum killing percentage of 22%.
