Abstract

Fast disintegrating tablet (FDT) menarik banyak perhatian di industri farmasi dikarenakan tablet dapat hancur dengan cepat dengan bantuan saliva dan tanpa perlu dikunyah. Bentuk sediaan ini cocok untuk pasien dengan kesulitan menelan tablet konvensional atau kapsul. Asam mefenamat merupakan obat yang dipertimbangkan untuk perkembangan FDT karena diharapkan akan dicapai onset kerja yang lebih cepat dengan pemberian sediaan FDT asam mefenamat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengoptimasi kadar superdisintegran sodium starch glycolate dalam formula FDT asam mefenamat yang optimum. Superdisintegran yang digunakan adalah sodium starch glycolate yang mampu menyerap air dengan cepat dan mampu mengembang (swelling) hingga 200- 300% ketika kontak dengan air. Optimasi kadar sodium starch glycolate dengan menggunakan variasi kadar sodium starch glycolate 2%, 5%, dan 8% dan kemudian diuji kekerasan, kerapuhan, waktu keterbasahan, dan waktu hancur FDT. Analisa statistik dilakukan dengan metode OneWay ANOVA dan HSD Tukey dengan SPSS. Formula 3 dengan kadar superdisintegran sodium starch glycolate sebanyak 8% merupakan formula dengan kadar optimum superdisintegran sodium starch glycolate dalam formula fast disintegrating tablet asam mefenamat.

English Abstract

Fast Disintegrating Tablets (FDT) attract much attention in the pharmaceutical industry because the tablets can disintegrate quickly with only the help of saliva and with no need to chew. This dosage form is suitable for patients with difficulty swallowing conventional tablets or capsules. Mefenamic acid is a drug that is taken into consideration for the development of FDT because it’s expected to be achieved more rapid onset of action with administration of mefenamic acid FDT. The purpose of this study is to optimize the concentration of superdisintegrant sodium starch glycolate in the optimum formulation of mefenamic acid fast disintegrating tablet. Sodium Starch Glycolate was used as superdisintegrant which able to absorb water rapidly and capable of swelling up to 200-300% when in contact with water. Optimization concentration of sodium starch glycolate of 2%, 5%, and 8% and then performed in process control and evaluation of the physical properties of tablet. Statistical analysis was conducted using OneWay ANOVA and HSD Tukey with SPSS. Third formula with concentration of sodium starch glycolate as much as 8% is a formula with optimum concentration of superdisintegrant sodium starch glycolate in the formulation of mefenamic acid fast disintegrating tablets.
