Abstract
Caregiver lansia beresiko tinggi mengalami stres karena harus menghadapi berbagai stresor dalam menyediakan bantuan bagi orang yang diasuhnya. Proses merawat lansia tidak terlepas dari komunikasi yang dilakukan antara caregiver dan lansia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui hubungan tingkat stres caregiver dengan kualitas komunikasi interpersonal pada lansia dengan menggunakan metode Cross Sectional. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi dan didapatkan sampel sejumlah 38 orang. Instrument yang digunakan adalah The Modified Caregiver Strain Index (MCSI) dan Communication Scale yang telah dimodifikasi. Didapatkan sebagian besar responden memiliki tingkat stres sedang yaitu sebanyak 26 orang (68,4%) dan kualitas komunikasi sedang yaitu sebanyak 23 orang (60,5%). Analisa data didapatkan sebagian besar responden dengan tingkat stres sedang dengan kualitas komunikasi sedang sebanyak 18 orang (47,4%). Berdasarkan hasil uji range spearman (p:0,00, α:0,05) terdapat hubungan tingkat stres caregiver dengan kualitas komunikasi interpersonal pada lansia. Hubungan bersifat berbanding terbalik yaitu semakin tinggi stres caregiver maka semakin memburuk kualitas komunikasi interpersonal pada lansia. Sehingga disarankan untuk caregiver dapat membagi tugas dalam merawat lansia dengan anggota keluarga dapat mengurangi tingkat stres yang dialami.
English Abstract
Caregivers at high risk of experiencing stress of having to deal with a stressor in providing assistance to elderly people. The process of caring for the elderly is not performed regardless of the communication between the caregiver and the elderly . The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of caregiver stress levels with the quality of interpersonal communication in the elderly using cross sectional method . Samples were selected by purposive sampling technique with the inclusion criteria and obtained a sample of 38 people . The instrument used is the Modified Caregiver Strain Index ( MCSI ) and Communication Scale, which has been modified . Obtained the majority of respondent have level of stress were as 20 people (68,4%) in medium level and also the quality of the communication is majority in medium as 23 people (60,5%). Analysis of data obtained most respondent was have medium level of stress and medium level of quality of interpersonal communication such as 18 people (47,4%). Based on Spearman range (p:0,00, α:0,05) test there is a relationship with the caregivers stress level of interpersonal communication quality in the elderly . The relationship is inversely proportional caregiver stress is higher the less the quality of interpersonal communication in the elderly . So it is advisable for caregiver to devide the task of caring the elderly for family members can reduce the level of stress experienced.
