Abstract

Nyamuk Culex sp. merupakan vektor biologis berbagai penyakit, diantaranya Filariasis, Chikungunya, dan Japanese Enchepalitis. Salah satu upaya pencegahan penyakit tersebut adalah dengan pengendalian vektor menggunakan insektisida. Namun, penggunaan insektisida kimia menyebabkan beberapa masalah diantaranya : resistensi dan keracunan pada manusia. Ekstrak daun seledri (Apium graveolens L.) mengandung zat aktif saponin, alkaloid, flavonoid, minyak atsiri dan polifenol yang diperkirakan dapat berpotensi sebagai insektisida. Penelitian ini untuk membuktikan potensi ekstrak daun seledri sebagai insektisida terhadap nyamuk Culex sp. Penelitian eksperimental laboratoris ini menggunakan nyamuk Culex sp. sebagai model dengan 4 kali pengulangan pada 7 interval waktu yaitu pada jam ke-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 dan 24. Konsentrasi yang digunakan adalah 30%, 40%, dan 50%. Hasil rerata potensi insektisida menunjukkan semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak daun seledri, maka semakin tinggi potensi insektisidanya. Hasil Uji Kruskall Wallis menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan (p<0.05) dan hasil uji Korelasi Spearman menunjukkan R = 0.983 untuk potensi insektisida dan waktu pengamatan dan R = 0.967 untuk potensi insektisida dan konsentrasi ekstrak. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil adalah ekstrak daun seledri (Apium graveolens L.) memiliki potensi sebagai insektisida terhadap nyamuk Culex sp.

English Abstract

Culex sp. is biological vector of several diseases such as Filariasis, Chikungunya, and Japanese Enchepalitis. Insecticide is one of the methods of controlling vectors to prevent that diseases. The usage of chemical insecticides have many problems such as resistance and human toxication. Apium graveolens L. leaves extract contains saponin, alkaloid, flavonoid, atsiri oil and polifenol that was predicted has a potention as insecticides. This research was to prone insecticide potency of Apium graveolens L. leaves extract toward Culex sp. mosquito. This laboratory experimental research Culex sp., as model with four times repetition at seven intervals 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 24 hours. The doses used were 30%, 40%, and 50%. Result of insecticidal potention means showed that the higher concentration the higher potention. The result of Kruskall Wallis tests shows the significant results (p<0.05). The result of Spearman Correlations tests shows R= 0.983 for the correlations between insecticidal potention and time observations, and R=0.967 for the correlations between insecticidal potention and extracts concentrations. The conclusion, of this research is Apium graveolens L roots extract has potention as insecticide toward Culex sp. mosquito.
