Fitria, Ita (2014) Pengaruh Terapi Relaksasi Otot Progresif Terhadap Penurunan Tingkat Stres pada Lansia di UPT Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Blitar. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Progressive muscle relaxation therapy is one of the techniques to reduce muscle tension with a simple and systematic process. This relaxation therapy can release tension in body and mind and make the blood circulation to the brain is more optimal, so as to create a calm and relaxed state. Accordingly, this study aimed to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy to decrease the level of stress in elderly. Quasy experimental design used with pretest-posttest approach with control group. The sample has been selected by simple random sampling with the study inclusion criteria obtained amounted to 20 elderly respondents are divided into two groups, the treatment group and the control group. To obtain the data in this study, used a modified DASS 42 questionnaire is then analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney test. Based on the Wilcoxon signed rank test, it was a obtained p value = 0.004 in the treatment group and p = 0.317 in the control group. Meanwhile, from Mann Whitney test it was obtained p value = 0.001. It can be concluded that have effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy to decrease stress levels in elderly.
