Abstract
Resin akrilik heat cured adalah bahan yang umum digunakan sebagai basis gigi tiruan lepasan dalam dunia kedokteran gigi. Sifat resin akrilik yang menyerap cairan karena adanya porositas menyebabkan mikroorganisme tumbuh dan berkoloni pada permukaan basis gigi tiruan lepasan yang berakibat terjadinya inflamasi pada rongga mulut. Perasan daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum) mengandung minyak atsiri yang bersifat fungisid sehingga mencegah terjadinya oral candidiasis sebagai penyebab denture stomatitis. Namun perasan daun salam juga mengandung klorofil yang dapat menyebabkan perubahan warna. Penelitian eksperimental ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan warna yang terjadi pada lempeng akrilik heat cured setelah direndam dalam perasan daun salam selama 6 hari, 12 hari, 18 hari. Sampel yang digunakan berupa lempeng akrilik heat cured berbentuk bulat berukuran 26mm x 1mm. Terbagi dalam 3 kelompok kontrol dan 3 kelompok perlakuan dengan jumlah sampel masing masing 6 buah, sehingga total keseluruhan sampel 36 buah. Variabel yang diukur adalah perubahan warna lempeng akrilik heat cured yang diuji menggunakan alat spektrofotometer optik, fotosel tipe BPY-47 dan microvolt digital. Data hasil penelitian diuji melalui uji statistik menggunakan uji Oneway Anova dan uji LSD. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perubahan warna yang signifikan pada lempeng akrilik heat cured yang direndam dalam perasan daun salam. Hal ini dapat dijadikan pertimbangan dalam menggunakan perasan daun salam sebagai bahan alternatif pembersih gigi tiruan karena mempengaruhi estetikanya.
English Abstract
Heat cured resin acrylic is one of commonly used material as prosthesis base in dentistry. The properties of acrylic resin which absorb liquid due to porosity, cause microorganism grow and colonize on the surface of prosthesis leading to the inflammation of surrounding oral mucosa. The bay leaf or daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum) juice contains atsiri or essential oil which is fungicide that will prohibit oral candidiasis growth as main factor for denture stomatitis. On the other side, bay leaf juice contains chlorophyll which can cause discoloration. The purpose of this experimental research is to see the discoloration occurred on heat cured acrylic slab after submerged in bay leaf juice for 6, 12, and 18 days. Samples that were used on this study, are 26mm x 1 mm sized circular heat cured acrylic slab. Divided into 3 control groups and 3 experimental groups with amount of each group is 6 slabs and total of the samples are 36. Measured variable is discoloration of heat cured acrylic slab which is tested by optic spectrophotometer, photocell type BPY-47 and digital microvolt. The result study data is tested by statistical test, using Oneway ANOVAs and LSD test. There is a significant discoloration on the heat cured acrylic slab which were soaked on bay leaf juice. This result can be considered to use bay leaf juice as an alternative denture cleanser due to aesthetic factor.
