Abstract
Candida albicans merupakan normal mikroorganisme yang hidup pada mukosa hewan dan manusia. Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, Candida albicans sudah berkembang menjadi salah satu patogen yang sering menimbulkan infeksi berbahaya, baik lokal maupun sistemik. Dengan munculnya masalah resisten antifungal, perlu dikembangkan antifungal alternatif. Salah satu tanaman yang diduga mengandung antifungal adalah anting-anting (Acalypha indica). Daun anting-anting diduga memiliki potensi sebagai antifungal, karena mengandung flavonoid, tanin, dan saponin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak daun anting-anting sebagai antifungal terhadap Candida albicans. Sampel diperoleh dari isolat klinis di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi FKUB. Konsentrasi ekstrak yang dipakai yaitu 23%, 24%, 25%, 26% dan 27%. Penelitian ini adalah true experimental post test control only design dengan metode dilusi tabung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa KHM-nya adalah 23% dan KBM-nya adalah 26%. Dari hasil analisis tersebut terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada perubahan konsentrasi ekstrak daun anting-anting terhadap jumlah koloni Candida albicans (Kruskall Wallis, p=0.001, p<0,05). Uji korelasi menunjukkan jenis dan kekuatan hubungan antara konsentrasi ekstrak dan jumlah koloni, bahwa semakin meningkatnya konsentrasi ekstrak daun anting-anting, maka jumlah pertumbuhan koloni Candida albicans semakin menurun, dengan kekuatan hubungan sangat kuat (R=-0,950, p=0.000, p<0,05). Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah ekstrak daun anting-anting secara in vitro mempunyai potensi sebagai antifungal terhadap Candida albicans.
English Abstract
Candida albicans is normal microorganism that lives on animals and human’s mucose. In the last few decades, Candida albicans has grown become one of the most common pathogen that caused infection, both local and systemic. Nowadays, there is a trend for society to use natural substance for medicine. One of herbs which is supposed to have antifungal effect is Copperleaf herbs (Acalypha indica). Copperleaf herbs leaves hasve a potential as an antifungal as it contains flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. This study was aimed to determine the potential effect of the Copperleaf herbs leaves extract as an antifungal agent against Candida albicans. Samples was obtained from clinical isolates in the Microbiology Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine Brawijaya University. The extract concentrations used were 23%, 24%, 25%, 26% and 27% (v/v). This study was a true experimental post test control-only design with tube dilution method. The result showed that the minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) was 23% and the minimal fungicidal concentration (MFC) is 26%. Based on data analysis, we know that there were significant differences in the changes of the extract concentrations to the colony numbers of Candida albicans (Kruskall Wallis, p=0.001, p<0,05). Correlation test showed that the higher the extract concentration, the lower the number of Candida albicans colony growth, with the strength of relationship was very strong (R=-0,950, p=0.000, p<0,05). The conclusion of this study was that Copperleafs herbs leaves extract has potency as an antimicrobial againts Candida albicans in vitro.
