Abstract

Bakteri Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) merupakan bakteri utama penyebab infeksi nosokomial yang endemis hampir di seluruh dunia. Adanya infeksi MRSA menyebabkan lama perawatan di rumah sakit lebih panjang, serta meningkatkan mortalitas dan morbiditas pasien. Salah satu cara untuk menanggulanginya adalah dengan mengembangkan suatu bahan antimikroba baru yang berasal dari bahan alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi antibakteri ekstrak daun beringin (Ficus benjamina L) terhadap bakteri MRSA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium, menggunakan uji dilusi tabung, metode post test only control group design. Sampel yang digunakan adalah bakteri MRSA yang berasal dari stock culture Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Brawijaya. Ekstrak daun beringin (Ficus benjamina L.) dibuat dalam konsentrasi-konsentrasi tertentu: 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 10%, 11%, dan 12%, selanjutnya masing-masing ditambahkan dengan 1 ml suspensi bakteri MRSA. Semua tabung diinkubasi selama 24 jam pada suhu 37oC, lalu ditanam pada media NAP. Pengulangan dilakukan sebanyak empat kali. Pada hasil pengamatan, ditentukan bahwa Kadar Hambat Minimum (KHM) terhadap bakteri MRSA pada konsentrasi 8%, dan Kadar Bunuh Minimum (KBM) pada konsentrasi 10%. Dengan uji statistik ANOVA didapatkan nilai signifikansi (p<0,05). Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun beringin (Ficus benjamina L.) memiliki efek antibakterial terhadap bakteri MRSA secara in vitro pada konsentrasi 10%.

English Abstract

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is the main etiology of nosocomial infection, and also available endemically in almost all over the world. MRSA infections could prolong hospital stay, and also increase the risk of morbidities and mortalities among the patients. One of the way to help in overcoming the bacterial resistance is developing a novel antimicrobial compound from natural ingredients.This research was conducted to know the antibacterial potency of weeping fig leaves (Ficus benjamina L) extract towards MRSA. This research was a laboratory experimental research, using tube dilution method, with post test only control group design. The sample used here was the MRSA stock culture from the Microbiology Laboratorium of Brawijaya University Faculty of Medicine. The weeping fig extract was made into several concentrations: 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 10%, 11%, and 12%, then each were added with 1 ml of MRSA suspension. The tubes were incubated in 37oC for 24 hours, and then were streaked on NAP media. The procedures were repeated four times. The result shows that the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) towards MRSA is 8%, and the Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) is 10%. Using ANOVA analysis, there is significance value 0,000 (p<0,05). In conclusion, weeping fig (Ficus benjamina L) leaves extract has antibacterial effect towards MRSA in vitro, in 10% concentration.
