Abstract

Demam Tifoid Merupakan Penyakit Infeksi Sistemik Yang Disebabkan Oleh Bakteri Salmonella Typhi. Pada Hewan Coba, Kondisi Serupa Dapat Terjadi Karena Infeksi Salmonella Typhimurium. Tingginya Kasus Resistensi Bakteri Ini Terhadap Antibiotik Lini Pertama (Kloramfenikol, Ampisilin Dan Kotrimoksazol), Mendasari Perlunya Pengembangan Alternatif Pengobatan Yang Lebih Efektif, Efisien, Dan Da-Pat Menurunkan Biaya Kesehatan Tanpa Melupakan Standar Mutu Pelayanan Medis. Rimpang Kunyit ( Curcuma Domestica ) Adalah Salah Satu Alternatif Bahan Alam Yang Diduga Dapat Menghambat Pertumbuhan Bakteri Salmonella Typhimurium Karena Memiliki Kandungan Aktif Senyawa Antimikroba Seperti Kurkumin, Flavono-Id, Minyak Atsiri Dan Saponin. Penelitian Ini Bertujuan Untuk Mengetahui Efek An-Timikroba Ekstrak Etanol Rimpang Kunyit Terhadap Salmonella Typhimurium. Me-Tode Yang Digunakan Adalah Dilusi Agar Untuk Menentukan Kadar Hambat Mini-Mum (KHM). Ekstrak Rimpang Kunyit Dibuat Dengan Cara Maserasi Menggunakan Etanol 96%. Konsentrasi Ekstrak Etanol Rimpang Kunyit Yang Digunakan Yaitu 2%, 3%, 4%, 5% Dan 6% Masing-Masing Dengan Empat Kali Pengulangan, Sedangkan Konsentrasi Salmonella Typhimurium Yang Digunakan Adalah 104CFU/Ml. Pada Penelitian Ini Ditemukan Bahwa Ekstrak Etanol Rimpang Kunyit Dapat Secara Signi-Fikan Menghambat Pertumbuhan Bakteri Salmonella Typhimurium Pada Konsen-Trasi 6% (Kruskal Wallis, P =0,001); Dimana Terdapat Keeratan Hubungan Yang Sangat Kuat Antara Peningkatan Konsentrasi Ekstrak Dengan Penurunan Pertumbu-Han Bakteri (Korelasi Spearman, P=0,000;R= -0,933). Berdasarkan Penelitian Ini Dapat Disimpulkan Bahwa Ekstrak Etanol Rimpang Kunyit ( Curcuma Domestica ) Memiliki Efek Antimikroba Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bakteri Salmonella Typhimu-Rium Secara In Vitro

English Abstract

Typhoid Fever Is Systemic Infection In Human Caused By Salmonella Typhi. Salmonella Typhimurium Can Caused Same Condition In Mouse. Resistance Of These Bacteria To First Line Antibiotic (Cloramphenicol, Ampicilin And Cotrimoxazol) Being A Basis To Develop New Alternative Treatments That Are Cheaper, More Effec-Tive And Efficient, But Still In Accordance With The Medical Quality Standard. Tur-Meric Rhizome ( Curcuma Domestica ) Is An Alternative Natural Material That Hypo-Thetically May Inhibit Growth Of Salmonella Typhimurium Because It Has Antimi-Crobial Active Substances Such As Curcumin, Flavonoid, Atsiri Oil And Saponin. This Experiment Was Conducted To Verify The Antimicrobial Effect Of Turmeric Rhizome Ethanol Extract Against Salmonella Typhimurium In Vitro. Antimicrobial Test Used In This Experiment Was Agar Dilution Method To Determine The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). Turmeric Rhizome Was Extracted By Maceration Using 96% Ethanol. We Used Four Extract Concentrations (2%, 3%, 4%, 5% And 6%) With Four Repetitions, While The Concentration Of Salmonella Typhimurium Was 104CFU/Ml. The Experiment Showed That Turmeric Rhizome Ethanol Extract Could Significantly Inhibit The Growth Of Salmonella Typhimurium With MIC Was 6% (Kruskal Wal-Lis, P = 0.001) And There Was A Very Strong Corelation Between The Increase Of Ex-Tract Concentrations With The Decrease Of Salmonella Typhimurium’s Growth (Spearman Corelation, P=0,000;R = -0.933). Therefore, It Can Be Concluded That Turmeric Ethanol Extract Wields Antimicrobial Effect To Salmonella Typhimurium Growth In Vitro.
