Abstract
Jerawat (Acne vulgaris) adalah kelainan berupa peradangan pada lapisan pilosebaseus yang disertai penyumbatan dan penimbunan bahan keratin. Salah satu penyebab jerawat adalah bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Rimpang kunyit terbukti mengandung komponen bioaktif utama, yaitu kurkumin, yang telah terbukti memiliki spektrum luas sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh formula gel dari ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa L) dan membuktikan daya hambat sediaan gel ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa L) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, serta mengetahui efektifitas antara ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa L) dengan bentuk sediaan gel ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa L) terhadap penghambatan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian eksperimental post-test only. Gel dibuat dengan lima variasi konsentrasi ekstrak kunyit 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, dan 50%. Uji daya hambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dilakukan dengan uji difusi cakram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rancangan formula gel ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa) terbukti memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Formulasi sediaan gel dengan ekstrak kunyit 50% memiliki daya hambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus paling besar. Didapatkan nilai p=0.327 yang menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan diameter zona hambat antara perlakuan ekstrak kunyit dengan sediaan gel kunyit (Curcuma longa) terhadap penghambatan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus pada uji difusi cakram. Hal ini berarti bahwa ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa) memiliki efektifitas daya penghambatan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus yang sama dengan ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa) yang telah dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan gel. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah formula gel ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa) memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus, serta bentuk ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma longa) dengan bentuk sediaan gel ekstrak kunyit memiliki efek antibakteri yang sama terhadap penghambatan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus.
English Abstract
Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory disorder of pilosebaseus accompanied with blockage and accumulation of keratin materials. One cause of acne is bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Turmeric contains bioactive components, curcumin, which has been shown to had broad spectrum as antibacterial. This study aimed to obtain a gel formula of turmeric extract (Curcuma longa L) and prove the inhibition of gel extract of turmeric (Curcuma longa L) against Staphylococcus aureus, as well as determine the effectiveness of the extract of turmeric (Curcuma longa L) with turmeric extract gel dosage form (Curcuma longa L) on the inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This study uses an experimental research design post-test only. Gel is made with five variations of concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Inhibitory test of Staphylococcus aureus by disk diffusion test. The results showed that the design of the turmeric extract gels (Curcuma longa) have antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Gel formulation with 50% of turmeric extract dosage form has the greatest an inhibitory bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Obtained value p=0.327 which showed no differences inhibition of diameter zone between the turmeric extract form and gel turmeric extract (Curcuma longa) form on the inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus in the disk diffusion test. This means that extract of turmeric (Curcuma longa) has the same effectiveness of inhibition Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with extracts of turmeric (Curcuma longa) has been created in the form of gel. The conclusion of this study is a gel formula of turmeric extract (Curcuma longa) has antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus aureus, and turmeric extract form with turmeric extract gel form has the same antibacterial effect on the inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus.
