Abstract
Manusia bertukar pikiran atau ide dengan cara berkomunikasi. Dalam menyampaikan ide, dibutuhkan relasi yang baik antara pembicara dengan pendengar. Tindak tutur merupakan salah satu aspek dalam bidang pragmatik dan juga tindakan komunikasi. Tindakan illokusi sangat penting untuk memahami perilaku orang melalui kata-kata. Penulis melakukan analisis tentang tindakan illokusi dalam pidato Zakir Naik dalam debat terbuka di Oxford Union. Ada dua masalah yang harus dipecahkan, yaitu: (1) Apa jenis tindakan illokusi yang ditemukan dalam pidato Zakir Naik dalam debat terbuka di Oxford Union? (2) Bagaimana konteks dapat mempengaruhi pilihan tindakan illokusi dalam pidato Zakir Naik? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah transkripsi pidato Zakir Naik di Oxford Union. Penulis mengumpulkan data dengan menyimpan video. Dalam menganalisa data, penulis menerapkan klasifikasi model illocutionary(1976) dan model Hymes yang disebut dengan SPEAKING (1974). Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa asertif, direktif, komisif, dan ekspresif adalah jenis tindakan illokusi yang digunakan oleh Zakir Naik. Asertif adalah tindakan yang banyak digunakan olehnya dikarenakan dalam konteks ini Ia menjelaskan, menginformasikan dan menekankan isi ceramahnya kepada khalayak. Sementara itu deklaratif adalah tindakan yang tidak pernah digunakan olehnya dalam kesempatan ini, hal ini terjadi dikarenakan faktor participant dan setting berpengaruh terhadap Zakir Naik untuk tidak menggunakan deklaratif. Berdasarkan analisis pengaruh konteks terhadap pilihan tindakan illokusi, diketahui bahwa faktor participant, ends, act sequence dan instrumentalities mempengaruhi penggunaan tindakan asertif dalam menjelaskan, memberi tahu dan menekankan ucapannya. Direktif digunakan oleh pembicara berdasarkan pengaruh faktor participants, ends dan act sequence dalam konteks dalam meminta, menyampaikan permintaan sopan,dan menasihati yang ditujukan kepada pendengar. Faktor participants, act sequence dan keys mempengaruhi penggunaan tindakan komisif saat dia mengutarakan rencana dan jaminannya mengenai masalah Islam yang dapat diselesaikan apabila masyarakat mengikuti kata-katanya dengan baik.Selanjutnya, penggunaan tindakan ekspresif dipengaruhi oleh faktor participants dan ends dalam konteks untuk menunjukkan rasa terima kasihnya dan menyesalkan apa yang telah terjadi dalam Islam saat ini. Terakhir, penulis menyarankan para peneliti berikutnya untuk menganalisa wacana kritis terhadap pidato Zakir Naik untuk menentukan konteks politik sosial dan untuk menganalisis struktur teks atau ceramah pidatonya secara lebih mendalam.
English Abstract
People are social creatures that continuously share ideas to one another, they communicate to each other by using verbal and non-verbal communication which is very crucial parts of human life. Speech acts is one of the aspects in pragmatics fields and also the act of communication. Illocutionary act is crucially used to understand people’s behavior through words. The writer conducted an analysis about illocutionary acts in Dr. Zakir Naik’s speech in open debate at Oxford Union. There are two problems to be solved, namely: (1) What types of illocutionary act which found in Dr. Zakir Naik’s speech in open debate at Oxford Union? (2) How does the context influence the choice of illocutionary acts in Dr. Zakir Naik’s speech? This study uses qualitative research method. The data of this research is the transcription of Dr. Zakir Naik’s speech in Oxford Union. The writer collected the data by saving the video. In analyzing the data, the writer applied Searle’s classification of illocutionary acts (1976) and Hymes’ model of context which called as SPEAKING (1974). This research reveals that assertives, directives, commissives, and expressives are types of illocutionary acts which are used by Dr. Zakir Naik. Assertives is the acts that mostly used by him since he explains, informs and emphasize the content of his talk to the audiences. Meanwhile declaratives is the act which not been used by him in this occasion, this happened because factor participants and setting influence him for not produce this kind of act. Based on the analysis of the influence of context to the choice of illocutionary acts, it is known that factors participant, ends, act sequence and instrumentalities influences the use of assertives acts in explaining, informing and emphasizing of his utterances. Directives acts are used by the speaker based on the influence of factors participants, ends, and act sequence of the context in asking, delivering polite request, and advising which addressed to the hearers. Factor participants, act sequence and keys are influence the uses of commissives acts as he uttering his plans and his guarantees regarding Islam could be solve if people follow his words well. Next, the used of expressives acts are influenced by the factors participants and ends of the context in showing his gratitude and his deploring of what has happened in Islam nowadays. Lastly, the writer suggests the next researchers to analyze critical discourse analysis on Dr. Zakir Naik’s speech to determine social political context and to analyze the specific structures of text or talk of his speech more deeply.
