Abstract

Koran berperan penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, orang selalu membaca koran setiap hari namun surat kabar itu sendiri memiliki berbagai tipe yang berbeda. Terutama di superstruktur, superstruktur ini membantu pembaca memahami berita dengan sempurna. Peneliti melakukan studi tentang Superstruktur dalam berita di Jakarta Post dan Media Indonesia yang menunjukkan perbedaan Superstrukture antara dua surat kabar dan menganalisis skema superstruktur yang mereka gunakan di koran mereka. Ada dua masalah yang harus dipecahkan dalam penelitian ini: (1) Apa bentuk umum superstruktur di Media Indonesia dan Jakarta Post dan (2) Apa perbedaan antara skema berita di Jakarta Post dan Media Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Van Djik (1988) dan menerapkan analisis dokumen untuk subjek penelitian. Studi kontrastif dalam analisis tekstual diterapkan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisis skema superstruktur dari surat kabar melalui konteks Jakarta Post dan Media Indonesia. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa semua elemen superstruktur (Headline, Lead, Main Event, Latar Belakang, Konsekuensi, dan Komentar) diterapkan dalam berita. Dari urutan superstruktur Jakarta Post cenderung menggunakan struktur yang tertata dengan baik sedangkan Media Indonesia strukturnya kurang tertata. Media Indonesia menerapkannya karena wartawan cenderung membuat pembaca membaca evaluasi dari sebuah cerita terlebih dahulu. Hal ini membuat pembaca sulit memahami ide utama sebuah berita. Apalagi, Jakarta Post menunjukkan strukturnya sebagai surat kabar internasional yang berlawanan dengan Media Indonesia sebagai surat kabar domestik. Superstruktur koran menunjukkan perbedaan antara daerah dan perbedaan bahasa. Pembaca mendapatkan keuntungan dari pengertian superstruktur membuat mereka lebih baik dari pada mereka yang tidak mengerti. Bagi jurnalis, mereka memiliki model superstruktur dalam pikiran mereka untuk menulis berita secepat mungkin. Terakhir bagi siswa dapat memperkaya pengetahuan siswa tentang superstruktur.

English Abstract

Newspaper plays an important role in people daily life. People always read newspaper every day but the newspaper itself has many different superstructure. This superstructure helps the reader comprehends the flow of the news story perfectly. The researcher conducted a study about Superstructure in news story in Jakarta Post and Media Indonesia using Van Djik (1986) theory that shows the Superstructure differences between two newspapers and analyzed the superstructure schema they used in the newspaper. There are two problems to be solved in the study: (1) what is the general pattern of structure in the news stories and (2) what are the differences between news schemata in Jakarta Post and Media Indonesia. This research uses qualitative approach and applies document analysis because this study is to get detailed information about the object of the study. Contrastive study in textual analysis is applied in this study to analyze superstructure schema from the newspaper through the context of Jakarta Post and Media Indonesia. This research reveals that all elements of superstructure (Headline, Lead, Main Event, Background, Consequences, and Comment) are applied in the news story. From the sequence of superstructure, Jakarta Post tends to use well-ordered schema of superstructure in contrast with Media Indonesia where the structure is mixed. Media Indonesia applied it because the journalist tends to make the reader read the evaluation from a story first. This makes it hard for the reader to understand the main idea of a news story. Moreover, the Jakarta Post shows the structure as international newspaper in opposite with Media Indonesia as domestic newspaper. The newspaper superstructure shows the differences between the area and language differences. The reader gets the benefit from understanding superstructure, makes comprehension easier than those who do not understand superstructure. For the journalist, they have superstructure model in their mind when they write the news story. Last, the students can enrich their knowledge about superstructure.
