Abstract
The SMEs have huge contribution in economic development, providing employment, and also contributing to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Strengthening the economy in the SMEs sector can be implemented through empowerment. Malang is one area that has a priority to encourage the economic actors in informal sector and SMEs to be more productive and competitive. Industrial Center of Keripik Tempe Sanan is one of the industrial centers that have developed in Malang. Industrial center of keripik tempe Sanan has developed dynamically rather than the others small industries in Malang. The number of keripik tempe SMEs in Sanan has reached more than 400 units. Almost 90% of people in the Sanan street is keripik tempe entrepreneur. Marketing of keripik tempe Sanan product has also penetrated the interlocal markets. It makes Sanan have huge market potential that can be more developed. The analysis related to the empowerment level is needed to determine the next development steps. The goal of this study was to determine the SMEs empowerment level in Industrial Center of Keripik Tempe Sanan after the empowerment and also look at the social and economic impact of the empowerment to Sanan society. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research location is in Purwantoro village to take the site in industrial center of keripik tempe where located at Sanan street. Data collection techniques were used interviews and documentation. Analysis of the data in this study using data analysis models by Cresswell. The results from this study indicate that the SMEs empowerment level of keripik tempe Sanan industry still in the stage of Non Participation in the level of Therapy Participation. It is seen from the role or participation is still low in both the planning and implementation of empowerment. The training is both practice and less to accommodate the public needs makes the public participation is still low. Empowerment has done significantly less impact on the development of SMEs in Industrial Center of Keripik Tempe Sanan.
