Abstract
Nowadays tourism has taken important role in development of economic, social and environmental life in the community. In economic aspect, the tourism is contributed for foreign exchange of foreign tourist visiting. In social aspect, tourism plays in labor absorption. In environment aspect, it can lift the tourism products and services like the richness and uniqueness of nature and also preservation natural environment and traditional culture art. Looking at the fact, the tourism is very needed the strategy that further development and management in order to develop properly. Gili Trawangan is one of the tourism islands that have unique tourism potential that didn’t own by the other place and also has so many tourism potential that can be develop more. In this case, Department of Transportation, Tourism, Communications and Informatics North Lombok Regency is try to make strategies that will be used to developing tourism potential of Gili Trawangan to increase tourism quality service. Departing from it, the researcher focuses on the strategy that local government used in developing Gili Trawangan to increase of tourism quality service. This type of research used in the preparation of this paper is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Source of data used are primary data and secondary data. Technique data collecting is done with interview, observation and documentation. The research instrument used is the researchers itself, interview guides and other supporting devices. Analysis of the data used in this study is qualitative analysis as the recurring spiral by Ian Dey. The result of this research shows that the strategy of local governments in developing tourism potential of Gili Trawangan it has been running well enough. Even though there are some problem concerning the tourism facilities, environment conditions, lack of cooperation among three actors (government, entrepreneur, community), and etc. Based on the issues raised, the researcher proposed suggestions in the completing the tourism facilities, attention more about the environment condition, control and regulation that related with stakeholder issues should be more strict so the cooperation among three actor can be run well.
