Abstract
Kebutuhan informasi pemustaka merupakan salah satu faktor penting perpustakaan dalam menghimpun koleksi buku tercetak baik dari segi kualitas maupun kuantitas sebab keberadaan koleksi yang berada di perpustakaan adalah untuk dilayankan kepada pemustaka. Pemustaka dalam hal ini pengguna yang memanfaatkan fasilitas dan layanan perpustakaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan ada tidaknya pengaruh antara kebutuhan informasi yang terdiri dari kognitif (X1), kebutuhan afektif (X2), kebutuhan integrasi personal (X3), kebutuhan integrasi sosial (X4), dan kebutuhan rekreatif (X5) secara parsial dan simultan terhadap pengembangan koleksi (Y) buku tercetak pada Perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya serta mengetahui dan menjelaskan variabel yang berpengaruh dominan terhadap pengembangan koleksi (Y). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian survei dengan jenis penelitian eksplanatori dan pendekatan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner sebagai alat pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan skala pengukuran dalam bentuk likert. Responden pada penelitian ini ialah mahasiswa S1 jurusan administrasi publik Universitas Brawijaya dengan jumlah sampel berjumlah 274 orang. Sedangkan data pendukung penelitian ini berupa data statistik koleksi Perpustakaan Universitas Brawijaya. Data primer dari hasil kuesioner dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Berdasarkan analisis data mendapatkan kebutuhan informasi yang terdiri dari kebutuhan kognitif, kebutuhan afektif, kebutuhan integrasi personal, kebutuhan integrasi sosial, dan kebutuhan rekreatif secara parsial dan simultan memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pengembangan koleksi. Berdasarkan hasil regresi kebutuhan integrasi personal merupakan variabel yang paling dominan dalam mempengaruhi pengembangan koleksi. Nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 37%. Hal tersebut berarti 37% dari pengembangan koleksi perpustakaan dipengaruhi oleh kebutuhan informasi pemustaka. Sedangkan 63% dari pengembangan koleksi perpustakaan dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain diluar kelima variabel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini.
English Abstract
Information needs of library user is one of the important factors in the library to collects printed books library collection both in of terms quality and quantity, because of the existence of the collection in the library is to be administered to library user. Library user in this case is users who use the facilities and services of the library. The purpose of this research : (1) to know and explain the variable of information needs that consists of cognitive needs (X1), affective needs (X2), personal integrative needs (X3), social integrative needs (X4), and recreational needs (X5) partially and simultaneously on collection development (Y) printed book in the Library of Brawijaya University, (2) to know and explain the variable of information needs that consists of cognitive needs (X1), affective needs (X2), personal integrative needs (X3), social integrative needs (X4), and recreational needs (X5) variable that dominant impact on the development of collection (Y). This study used explanatory research type and quantitative approach. The data were obtain from Likert questionnaire from 274 participants who majoring of Public Administration students of Brawijaya University. While the supporting data of this research is the statistical data collection at Brawijaya University Library. Primary data from the results of the questionnaire were analyzed using multiple linear regression. In this study the writter found that variable of information needs consist of cognitive needs, affective needs, personal integration needs, social integration needs, and recreational needs. All of that variables partially and simultaneously had positive and significant influence on the development of library collection. Based on the regression results, the most dominant variable is personal integration needs which influence on the development of collection library itself. The value of determination coefficient is 37%. It means that 37% of the development of library collection is influenced by the information needs of library user. While 63% the rest of it, is influenced by any other variables axcept the five variables that have been used in this study.
