Abstract

Terjadi penjarahan secara massive di Dusun Sendangbiru sejak tahun 1997 sampai tahun 2005 yang dilakukan oleh oknum masyarakat. Penjarahan ini menimbulkan kerusakan dan kerugian bagi lingkungan dan masyarakat Dusun Sendangbiru. Keadaan ini memicu Saptoyo untuk melakukan konservasi. Saptoyo juga mengajak masyarakat untuk berhenti menjarah dan ikut serta melakukan konservasi. Penelitian penulis bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya Saptoyo dalam mengubah perilaku warga melalui komunikasi persuasif dalam kegiatan konservasi di Dusun Sendangbiru. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut penulis menggunakan konsep komunikasi persuasif dari Richard M. Perloff yang menjelaskan bahwa komunikasi persuasif merupakan proses komunikasi dari komunikator yang mencoba meyakinkan komunikan untuk mengubah perilaku secara sukarela. Perloff menjelaskan terdapat beberapa faktor yang harus diperhitungkan, yaituattitude, atribut komunikator, dan pesan.Peneliti juga menggunakan coordinated management of meaning theorydari Pearce dan Cronen yang menjelaskan bahwa komunikator berperan mengatur proses komunikasi yang mampu membangun realita sosial yang dipengaruhi dan memengaruhi masyarakat. Untuk menunjang keberhasilan proses persuasi, Saptoyo terlebih dahulu memengaruhi sisi kognitif dan afektif yang berdampak pada perilaku masyarakat. Kognitif berkaitan dengan kepercayaan yang dibangun dari pemahaman dan perhitungan untung rugi. Afektif merujuk pada sisi emosional dari seseorang. Keberhasilan ini juga ditunjang oleh metode dan karakteristik yang tepat. Selain itu, Saptoyo juga menyampaikan pesan yang sesuai dengan tujuan serta disampaikan secara lugas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dengan masyarakat Dusun Sendangbiru yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling.

English Abstract

Looting massively in Sendangbiru from 1997 to 2005 carried out by unresponsibly people. This looting caused damage and losses to the environment and society in Sendangbiru. This situation triggered Saptoyo for conservation. Saptoyo also urge people to stop looting and participate in conservation. Purpose of this research is to describe Saptoyo’s effort in changing the behavior of citizens through persuasive communication in conservation activities in Sendangbiru village. Researcher use a persuasive communication concept by Richard M. Perloff. This theory focused on a communication process of the communicator is trying to convince the communicant to change the behavior voluntarily. Perloff explains there are several factors that must be noted, attitude, attributes of communicator, and messages. Researchers also use the coordinated management of meaning theory of Pearce and Croenen who explained that the communicator helps maintain the communication process is capable of building a social reality that is influenced by society and influence society. To support the success of the process of persuasion, Saptoyo first cognitive and affective side affects that impact on people's behavior. Cognitive related to trust built on understanding and calculation of profit and loss. Affective refers to the emotional side of a person.This success is also supported by the appropriate methods and characteristics. In addition, Saptoyo also convey the message that suits the purpose and conveyed straightly. This study uses descriptive qualitative data collection through interviews with Dusun community Sendangbiru selected through purposive sampling.
