LGBT in Indonesia has received vague response due to their existence lately. Despite being accepted or acknowledged by some people, LGBT are still being marginalized and stereotyped by the majority of Indonesian community. Stereotype can be realized in various medium, one of it being in news articles. Employing socio-cognitive approach by Van Dijk in Critical Discourse Analysis, the writer aims to: (1) find out the lexical choices found in Republika Online news articles that contain stereotype towards LGBT Community, (2) discover Indonesian cognition depicted in the news articles, and (3) find out readers' responses to the stereotype addressed to LGBT community. The writer employs qualitative research to describe and elaborate the findings of LGBT stereotyping found in Republika Online news articles. The data were acquired by document analysis for discourse and cognition level, and by interview for society level. It was found that the main two stereotype addressed to LGBT was that 'LGBT is an illness' and 'LGBT is threatening to the nation'. This is due to the rejection of LGBT's existence, shift in attitude toward LGBT, and Republika Online's Moslem ideology. The readers show various responses toward the news; agreement to the stereotype by a reader, and disagreement by three others due to various reasons. Future researchers are also encouraged to investigate other linguistic aspect in order to reveal to which extent an ideology can be implemented in language. In order to enrich gender-related research in linguistic, other researchers are also encouraged to analyse LGBT phenomenon from a supportive point of view
