Abstract
Mengapa Jerman dan Polandia telah mencapai hubungan yang lebih baik dibandingkan kasus lain? Bagaimana mereka mencoba membahas masa lalu yang ditandai dengan berbagai kekerasan dan konflik untuk mengarah pada hubungan yang lebih baik? Penelitian ini mencoba untuk membahas kedua pertanyaan ini dengan fokus pada aktivitas German-Polish Textbook Commission. Di sisi lain, usaha Jerman untuk rekonsiliasi terdiri atas kewajiban moral dan aspek material. Dalam penelitian ini akan fokus pada salah satu aspek moral (truth) menurut Lederach terbangun oleh acknowledgment, transparency, revelation, dan clarify. Secara umum, penelitian ini berusaha untuk menggambarkan apa peran yang dapat dimainkan German-Polish Textbook Commission sebagai komisi bilateral dalam proses rekonsiliasi Jerman-Polandia.
English Abstract
Why Germany and Poland have achieved deeper reconciliation than other cases? How do they try to address their past that are marked by violences and conflicts to move on better relationship? This research try to address these questions by focus on the activities of the German-Polish Textbook Commission. On the other hand, Germany's pursuit of reconciliation consist of moral obligation and material aspect. This research will focus on moral aspect (truth) which is according to Lederach consist of acknowledgment, transparency, revelation, and clarify. On general level, this study attempts to describe what role of German-Polish Textbook Commission as bilateral commission can play in German-Polish reconciliation process
