Abstract
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) menjadi kajian yang marak untuk dibahas akhir-akhir ini. Perusahaan dituntut untuk tidak hanya memusatkan perhatiannya pada keuntungan saja, namun juga menempatkan perhatian besar untuk dapat berkontribusi kepada masyarakat dan lingkungan. Hal ini didasarkan bahwa masyarakat dan lingkungan merupakan aspek penting untuk keberlanjutan perusahaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami retorika pengungkapan CSR PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) sebagai pemenang ISRA 2013 dengan menggunakan analisis semiotik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aktivitas CSR telah dilakukan oleh KPC untuk meyakinkan stakeholder bahwa perusahaan sangat peduli terhadap isu-isu sosial dan lingkungan melalui pembentukan citra perusahaan. Di sisi lain temuan pada pemberitaan di media massa menunjukkan berbagai kasus terkait aktivitas CSR KPC yang mendukung kebenaran adanya retorika pada pengungkapan CSR KPC.
English Abstract
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) becomes an interesting case study to be discussed nowadays. Companies were required to not only focused on the profit, but also take a great attention to contribute in the society and environment. That is because society and environment were becoming important aspects for the company’s sustainability. The aim of this research is to understand the rhetoric of CSR disclosure on PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) as the winner of ISRA 2013 through semiotic analysis. The results showed that CSR activities has been done by KPC to convince its stakeholders that the company is very concerned about social and environment issues through creating an image. On the otherhand mass media showed some cases of KPC that indicates the truth of rethoric in their CSR disclosure.
