Abstract
Ketimpangan gender merupakan hal yang selama ini menghampiri sebagian wanita dimanapun, wanita seringkali menjadi “korban” akan dominasi dari pria. Banyak wanita yang tidak mendapatkan kesempatan yang sama dengan pria dalam berbagai macam hal, seperti pendidikan,pekerjaan,maupun partisipasi politik. Ketimpangan gender seringkali menjadi akibat dari budaya masyarakat yang lebih “memfavoritkan” pria dibandingkan wanita, budaya patrilineal menjadi salah satu penyebabnya. Ketimpangan gender ini seringkali menimbulkan berbagai macam permasalahan bagi wanita seperti diskriminasi,kekerasan, maupun pelecehan seksual dalam berbagai macam bentuk. Maka dari itu UNDP dengan salah satu programnya GEWE menginginkan agar kesetaraan gender diterapkan di seluruh dunia, khususnya pada negara-negara berkembang yang umumnya memiliki tingkat kesetaraan gender yang rendah. Di kasus ini Kenya menjadi negara yang dituju oleh UNDP untuk menegakkan kesetaraan gender.
English Abstract
Gender inequality is something that many of women are experiencing everywhere around the world , women often being a victim of men’s dominance in many aspects. A lot of women are not having same chance like men in every aspect such as jobs, education, even political participation. Gender inequality often caused by culture of the society that in favor of men over women, especially in many development countries. Patrilineal culture become one of the reasons gender inequality happens, and men’s dominance are more frightening in development countries. Gender inequality caused many problems to women such as discrimination,violence, and harassment in every kind of way. Therefore UNDP with one of it’s programmes GEWE demand gender equality to be succeed applies in every countries, especially in development countries that have high gender inequality rates. In this case, Kenya is oe of many countries appointed by UNDP to applies this program to increase gender equality in thus country.
