Peran Trait Mindfulness Terhadap Hubungan Antara Motivasi Dan Aktivitas Fisik

Ganies, Gitajiwa Sekarnusa (2018) Peran Trait Mindfulness Terhadap Hubungan Antara Motivasi Dan Aktivitas Fisik. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

This study aims to determine whether trait mindfulness moderates the relationship between motivation and physical activity. The study involves 411 college students in Indonesia in a quantitative, correlational study. Trait Mindfulness is measured using Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS). Motivation is measured using Treatment self-regulation questionnaire for adequate physical activity (TSRQ) that has been adapted to Indonesian. Meanwhile, physical activity is measured using Self-Reported Adherence Scale for Physical Activity. Data gathering was performed utilizing SurveyMonkey, a cloud-based survey service, with the questionnaire shared through posters and social media, targeting Indonesian university students. The data is processed with the zero order correlation and indicates a relationship between motivation (both autonomous and controlled) with physical activity, while amotivation is not correlated with physical activity. Bootstrapping the data with simple moderation indicates that trait mindfulness does not moderate the relationship between motivation and physical activity (p>0,05); however, trait mindfulness predicts higher physical activity when it accompanies controlled motivation (p<0,05).
