Abstract
Ukraina adalah salah satu negara pecahan Uni Soviet yang berada di wilayah Eropa dan berbatasan langsung dengan Rusia. Faktor ini yang menjadi salah satu alasan Ukraina menjadi 2 geo-kultur penduduk yang berbeda arah. Sebelumnya perbedaan geo-kultur penduduk ini tidaklah menjadi masalah bagi Ukraina hingga akhirnya mulai muncul protes terhadap pemerintah apabila terlalu condong pada satu arah, baik itu Uni Eropa ataupun Rusia. Salah satu protesnya terjadi setelah Pemerintahan Presiden Yanukovych mengeluarkan keputusan penundaan penandatanganan European Union Association Agreement (EU-AA) pada November 2013. EU-AA ini merupakan kesepakatan kerjasama Ukraina dengan Uni Eropa dalam berbagai bidang terutama perekonomian. Protes tersebut dilakukan oleh Euromaidan hingga bisa mengkudeta Yanukovych turun dari jabatannya sebagai Presiden. Kemudian, konflik berlanjut ketika Rusia melakukan aneksasi dengan alasan humanitarian intervention di Krimea pada Maret 2014 karena banyak etnis Rusia yang tinggal disana. Konflik Ukraina berlanjut dengan munculnya kelompok separatis di Ukraina Timur yang mendeklarasikan dirinya sebagai Donetsk’s People Republic (DPR) dan Luhansk’s People Republic (LPR) yang bertujuan ingin memisahkan diri dengan Ukraina dan mendekatkan diri dengan Rusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep yang dikemukakan oleh Ho Won Jeong yaitu Dinamika dan Eskalasi Konflik yang menjelaskan mengenai bagaimana penyebab konflik berdinamika dan mencapai tahap eskalasi.
English Abstract
Ukraine is one of the Soviet Union countries located in the European region and directly borders with Russia. This factor is one of the reasons Ukraine became 2 geoculture population which is has different directions. Previously, this differences geocultural population is not a problem for Ukraine until the mass began to protest against the government if they were leaning in just one direction, even EU or Russia. One of the protests came after the Government of President Yanukovych issued a decision on the postponement of the signing of the European Union Association Agreement (EUAA) in November 2013. The EU-AA is an agreement on Ukraine's cooperation with the EU in various fields, especially the economy. The protest was carried out by Euromaidan to get a coup d’etat of Yanukovych as President of Ukraine. Then, the conflict continued when Russia annexed Crimea as humanitarian intervention in March 2014 due to the large number of ethnic Russians living there. The Ukrainian conflict continues with the emergence of separatist groups in Eastern Ukraine who declare themselves as Donetsk's People Republic (DPR) and Luhansk's People Republic (LPR) aiming to break with Ukraine and get closer to Russia.
