Abstract
Film animasi umumya memiliki karakteristik yaitu alur cerita yang sederhana dan mengandung pesan moral, dikarenakan oleh target penonton mereka termasuk anak-anak, seperti pada Cars (2006) dan The Angry Birds Movie (2016) yang memiliki kesamaan pesan moral dan konsep cerita meskipun keduanya dirilis pada tahun yang berbeda dan berasal dari rumah produksi yang berbeda. Kedua film ini menceritakan tentang seseorang yang memiliki sifat buruk pada awal cerita yang pada akhirnya berubah menjadi orang baik. Penelitian ini menganalisis persamaan dan perbedaan pada formula cerita dan arketipe tokoh dalam Cars dan The Angry Birds Movie dengan menggunakan teori Seven Basic Plot oleh Christopher Booker, Dramatis Personae oleh Vladimir Propp, dan Movie Studies oleh Louis Giannetti dan oleh Joseph M. Boggs dan Dennis W. Petrie. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa alur cerita Cars dan The Angry Birds Movie sesuai dengan formula cerita yang disampaikan oleh Booker Booker dan tokoh-tokohnya sesuai dengan arketipe tokoh yang disampaikan oleh Propp. Selain itu terdapat pula beberapa perbedaaan yang menciptakan karakteristik pada masing-masing film.
English Abstract
Animation movie usually has characteristics which are has simple story line and moral teaching, due to their target audiences which include young viewers, like in Cars (2006) and The Angry Birds Movie (2016) which has similar moral teaching and story concept even they are released in different year and from different production company. Both tell about a bad person in the beginning of the story who turns to be a good person in the end. This study analyzes the similarities and differences on the formula story and character archetypes of Cars and The Angry Birds Movie by using the theory of Seven Basic Plot proposed by Christopher Booker, Dramatis Personae proposed by Vladimir Propp, and Movies Studies proposed by Louis Giannetti and by Joseph M. Boggs and Dennis W. Petrie. This study found that the story of Cars and The Angry Birds Movie suit the formula story proposed by Booker, and the characters suit the character archetype proposed by Propp. However, there are also some differences which create the characteristics of each movie.
