Abstract
Strategi mengajar dapat disebut juga sebagai rencana pembelajaran atau pembelajaran termasuk struktur, keinginan pembelajar dalam memenuhi tujuan, dan juga sebagai rancangan bagaimana strategi-strategi itu diterapkan. Tujuan diadakannya penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan strategi guru yang diimplementasikan guru-guru Bahasa Inggris dan alasan mengapa mengimplementasikan strategi-strategi tersebut berdasarkan masalah yang dihadapi di SMK NEGERI 1 BATU. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus, Subjek penelitian yang digunakkan oleh peneliti yaitu dua guru Bahasa Inggris di SMK NEGERI 1 BATU. Peneliti menggunakan observasi dan teks wawancara untuk mengumpulkan data. Peneliti mengobservasi proses pembelajaran dan mengajar dan menginterview guru Bahasa Inggris terhadap strategi-strategi yang diimplementasikan. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu, dua orang guru Bahasa Inggris menggunakan strategi K-W-L (Know-Want-Learned), strategi Two-Stay Two-Stray, dan strategi QARs (Question and Answer Relationship). Sebagai tambahan bahwa, guru Bahasa Inggris A menggunakan strategi K-W-L untuk memotivasi partisipasi mereka di aktifitas membaca dan membantu mereka untuk memahami makna bacaan dengan mudah. lebih lanjut, guru Bahasa Inggris A menggunakan strategi QARs (Question and Answer Relationship) untuk membantu murid-murid lebih paham dengan materi-materi bacaan dengan cara mempertanyakannya kepada guru mereka. Sementara itu, guru Bahasa Inggris B menggunakan strategi TS-TS (Two-stay Two-Stray) untuk membuat murid-murid lebih aktif lagi dan memberikan palajaran baru tentang kosakata yang sukar. Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian ini, para guru mengimplementasikan strategi tersebut untuk membuat para siswa memiliki prestasi dalam Bahasa Inggris terutama membaca. Maka dari itu, disarankan untuk para guru dapat berinovasi atau mengembangkan strategi yang sudah ada untuk membuat proses pembelajaran lebih menarik. Sebagai tambahan, untuk para peneliti selanjutnya untuk mengembangkan atau menambahkan strategi yang khas untuk diterapkan berdasarkan fenomena unik yang terjadi didalam kelas.
English Abstract
Teaching strategies are known as plans for a lesson or lesson which includes structure, learners’ desire, in terms of the objectives of instruction, and an outline of the way the strategies are implemented. The objective of this research is to describe teaching strategies which is implemented by English teachers and the reasons why the teachers implement the strategy related to the particular problem at SMK NEGERI 1 BATU. This research is a case study research. The subjects of this research are two English teachers at SMK NEGERI 1 BATU. The researcher used observation, and interview guidelines to collect the data. The researcher observed the teaching and learning process, interviewed the English teachers on the strategies which were implemented. The results showed that the two English teachers used KWL (Know-Want- Learned) strategy and Two Stay-Two Stray strategy, and QARs (Question and Answer Relationship) strategy. In addition, teacher A used KWL strategy to encourage their active participation in reading activities and help them to understand the meaning easily. In addition the teacher used QARs (Question and Answer Relationship) strategy to help the students more understand with the materials by asking questions. Meanwhile, teacher B used TS-TS (Two Stray-Two Stay) to make students more active during the lesson and give a new information about unfamiliar vocabulary According to results of this study, the teachers implemented those strategies to make the students have a good achievement in English especially reading. Therefore, it is suggested for the teacher that can innovate or develop the existing strategy to make the learning process more interesting. In addition, the future researcher can develop it or add some strategies which are peculiar to treat in certain problem or unique phenomenon in the classroom
