Abstract
Prinsip kooperatif adalah teori yang diusulkan oleh Grice (1975). Prinsip kooperatif penting untuk mengamati makna yang dimaksud dalam ucapan pembicara dalam percakapan. Analisis penelitian ini membolak-balik pepatah dalam film berjudul `Inside Out`. Penelitian ini mencoba mencari dua masalah penelitian, mereka adalah: (1) Apa maksim yang ditolak oleh karakter utama dalam film `Inside Out`? dan (2) apa arti yang dimaksudkan dari ucapan yang mengandung maxim yang ditolak yang diproduksi oleh karakter utama dalam film `Inside Out`? Penulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif oleh Berg (2004) dan Ary et al (2002) karena data dalam bentuk kata-kata. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah film animasi berjudul `Inside Out` oleh Walt Disney Gambar. Data penelitian ini adalah ucapan yang mengandung pepatah yang ditolak yang diproduksi oleh karakter utama film `Inside Out`. Selain film, penulis juga menggunakan transkrip film untuk membantu analisis menjadi lebih mudah. Penulis menggunakan Maxim Grice `sebagai teori untuk mengkategorikan data menjadi empat jenis pepatah yang flouted dan menganalisis makna data yang dimaksud. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 23 ucapan yang dihasilkan oleh karakter utama dalam film `Inside Out` yang berisi empat jenis maxim yang flouted, 4 ucapan yang ditolak maksim kuantitas, 3 ucapan yang ditolak pepatah, 13 ucapan ditolak Maxim Hubungan, dan 3 Usteraksin melintasi maxim dengan cara. Maxim relasi menjadi pepatah yang sebagian besar ditolak oleh karakter utama karena sebagian besar karakter memberikan topik yang tidak relevan dalam memberikan kontribusi dalam percakapan mereka kepada lawan bicara mereka. Maxim dari kualitas dan pepatah cara menjadi pepatah yang lebih rendah karena hanya beberapa karakter yang memberi kurang bukti yang memadai dan memberikan ekspresi yang tidak jelas dalam memberikan kontribusi kepada lawan bicara dalam percakapan. Makna maxim yang dituju ditolak oleh karakter utama film `Inside Out` adalah sebagai pernyataan menyetujui, menghindari topik tertentu dalam percakapan, membujuk dan mendapatkan lebih banyak perhatian dari lawan bicara. Penulis menyarankan agar peneliti berikutnya menggunakan objek yang berbeda dari penelitian, seperti talk show, komik, atau percakapan harian dan melakukan analisis yang berbeda. Penulis juga menyarankan agar peneliti berikutnya menggunakan teori yang lebih baru.
English Abstract
Cooperative principle is a theory proposed by Grice (1975). Cooperative principle is important to observe the intended meaning in the utterance of speaker in a conversation. This research analyzes flouted maxims in the movie entitled “Inside out”. This research attempts to figure out two problems of the study, they are: (1) What are the maxims flouted by the main characters in the movie “Inside Out”? and (2) What are the intended meanings of the utterances containing flouted maxims which are produced by the main characters in the movie “Inside Out”? The writer uses qualitative approach by Berg (2004) and Ary et al (2002) since the data are in the form of words. The data source of this research is an animation movie entitled “Inside Out” by Walt Disney Picture. The data of this research are the utterances containing flouted maxims which are produced by main characters of the movie “Inside Out”. Beside the movie, the writer also uses the transcript of the movie in order to assist the analysis to be more easy. The writer uses Grice‟s Maxim as the theory to categorize the data into four types of flouted maxims and analyze the intended meanings of the data. The result of this research shows that there are 23 utterances produced by main characters in the movie “Inside Out” which contain four types of flouted maxims, 4 utterances are flouted maxim of quantity, 3 utterances are flouted maxim of quality, 13 utterances are flouted maxim of relation, and 3 utterances are flouted maxim of manner. Maxim of relation becomes the maxim which is mostly flouted by the main characters because most of the characters give irrelevant topic in giving contribution in their conversation to their interlocutors. Maxim of quality and maxim of manner become the maxims which are flouted the least because only some characters give lack adequate evidences and give obscure expressions in giving contributions to the interlocutors in conversations. The intended meanings of maxims flouted by the main characters of “Inside Out” movie are as agreeing statement, avoiding a certain topic in conversation, persuading and getting more attention from the interlocutors. The writer suggests that the next researchers use different object of the research, such as talk show, comic, or daily conversation and conduct different analysis. The writer also suggests that the next researcher use more recent theory.
