Abstract
Salah satu masalah umum yang dihadapi oleh siswa di sekolah menengah pertama adalah mereka tidak dapat mengkomunikasikan ide-ide mereka secara efektif karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang bagaimana mengekspresikan ide mereka. Berdasarkan hasil studi pendahuluan, ditemukan bahwa delapan siswa kelas di Kelas 8.1 dari SMPN 23 Malang memiliki masalah dalam proses menulis teks deskriptif yang dapat menyebabkan masalah lain, seperti yang buruk dalam konten, serta kurangnya kosa kata dan tata bahasa yang dapat memperlambat kemajuan dalam belajar menulis. Mengenai fenomena itu, peneliti mengusulkan teknik clustering untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki bagaimana teknik pengelompokan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa SMPN 23 siswa tahun kedelapan dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas, diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memecahkan masalah siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Penelitian ini hanya dilakukan dalam satu siklus yang terdiri dari tiga pertemuan. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan panduan wawancara, catatan lapangan, tes, dan daftar periksa observasi sebagai instrumen penelitian. Peneliti menetapkan dua kriteria keberhasilan, (1) 75% dari siswa (27 dari 36 siswa) akan aktif dalam mempelajari kegiatan penulisan selama implementasi teknik pengelompokan, dan (2) 75% dari siswa (27) 36 siswa) mencapai KKM, yaitu 75. Sebagai kesimpulan, dari dua kriteria keberhasilan yang telah ditetapkan, didirikan bahwa kriteria pertama dicapai sejak 86,11% siswa (31 siswa) aktif dalam prosesnya menulis teks deskriptif. Kriteria kedua juga tercapai sejak 80,5% siswa (29 siswa) telah lulus skor KKM. Berdasarkan hasil di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik clustering dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Selanjutnya, teknik clustering juga memiliki kekuatan untuk membantu siswa dalam mencapai skor yang baik dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Itu bisa terjadi, karena gambar-gambar sebagai media yang dapat memotivasi dan merangsang ide siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif.
English Abstract
One of the Common problems faced by the students in junior high school is they cannot communicate their ideas effectively due to lack of knowledge in how to express their idea. Based on the result of preliminary study, it was found that eight grade students at class 8.1 of SMPN 23 Malang had problems in the process of writing descriptive text that can cause the other problems, such as poor in content, as well as lack of vocabulary and grammar which can slowed the progress in learning to write. Concerning with those phenomena, the researcher proposes clustering technique to improve students’ ability in writing descriptive text. This study aims at investigating how clustering technique could improve the eighth year students’ ability of SMPN 23 Malang in writing descriptive text. Using classroom action research, it is expected that this study can solve the students’ problems in writing descriptive text. This research was only conducted in one cycle which consisted of three meetings. In this study, the researcher used interview guide, field notes, test, and observation checklist as research instruments. The researcher set two criteria of success, (1) 75% of the students (27 out of 36 students) will be active in learning writing activities during the implementation of clustering technique, and (2) 75% of the students (27 out of 36 students) achieve KKM, which is 75. In conclusion, from the two criteria of success that had been set, it is established that the first criterion is accomplished since 86.11% of the students (31 out 36 students) are active in the process of writing descriptive text. The second criterion is also accomplished since 80.5% of the students (29 out 36 students) have already passed the KKM Score. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that clustering technique can improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive text. Furthermore, clustering technique also has a power to help the students in achieving a good score in writing descriptive text. It can happen, due to the pictures as the media that can motivate and stimulate students’ idea in writing descriptive text.
