Abstract
Pragmatik adalah disiplin akademis yang berkaitan dengan makna pembicara. Untuk menghindari kesalahpahaman dalam komunikasi, orang juga perlu mempertimbangkan bagaimana berkomunikasi dengan cara yang sesuai dan sopan. Penulis melakukan penelitian tentang strategi kesopanan yang digunakan oleh direktur paduan suara suara e-lite. Ada dua masalah penelitian, yaitu. (1) Wajah apa yang terancam oleh instruksi dari sutradara paduan suara suara e-lite? (2) Jenis strategi kesopanan apa yang digunakan oleh Direktur paduan suara Suara E-Lite? Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif sejak penulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menganalisis data dan menggambarkan hasilnya dalam bentuk kata-kata dan bahasa. Data penelitian ini dianalisis dengan teori strategi kesopanan oleh Brown dan Levinson (1987). Dari 185 data, penulis menemukan bahwa direktur paduan suara suara E-Lite mengancam wajah negatif pendengar, wajah positif pendengar dan wajah positif pembicara. Dia juga menggunakan semua jenis strategi kesopanan yang botak pada catatan, kesopanan positif, kesopanan negatif, dan catatan off. Direktur paduan suara sering mengancam wajah negatif pendengar dan sebagian besar digunakan botak pada strategi rekor. Dia juga sering menggunakan strategi rekaman dalam memberikan instruksi kepada penyanyi-Nya. Direktur paduan suara suara E-Lite cenderung mengancam wajah negatif pendengar sejak ia memerintahkan para penyanyi untuk melakukan instruksinya sehingga mereka tidak memiliki kebebasan bertindak. Dia kebanyakan menggunakan botak pada strategi rekaman untuk membuat instruksinya jelas dan diterima dengan mudah oleh para penyanyi. Dia juga sering menggunakan strategi rekaman, terutama menggunakan strategi metafora untuk membantu penyanyi memahami instruksinya.
English Abstract
Pragmatics is an academic discipline that is concerned with the speaker meaning. To avoid misunderstanding in communication, people also need to consider how to communicate in appropriate and polite way. The writer conducted a research about politeness strategy used by choral director of E-Lite Voice. There are two problems of the study, namely; (1) What face is being threatened by the instructions of the choral director of E-Lite Voice? (2) What types of politeness strategies used by the choral director of E-Lite Voice? This research is a kind of qualitative research since the writer used qualitative approach to analyze the data and described the result in the form of words and language. The data of this research were analyzed with the theory of politeness strategy by Brown and Levinson (1987). From 185 data, the writer found that the choral director of E-Lite Voice threatened the negative face of the hearer, positive face of the hearer and the positive face of the speaker. He also used all the types of politeness strategy which were bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The choral director frequently threatened the negative face of the hearer and mostly used bald on record strategy. He also often used off record strategy in giving instructions to his singers. The choral director of E-Lite Voice tended to threaten the negative face of the hearer since he ordered the singers to do his instructions so they had no freedom of action. He mostly used bald on record strategy to make his instructions clear and accepted easily by the singers. He also often used off record strategy, especially using metaphors strategy to help the singers understood his instructions.
