Abstract
Ada beberapa masalah dalam belajar bahasa Inggris di SMPN 7 Malang. Salah satu masalah adalah motivasi rendah dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris terutama pada kelas delapan. Seorang guru harus memiliki strategi yang tepat, guru dalam SMPN 7 Malang menerapkan strategi Partisipasi Sistem Partisipasi (PPS) di kelas. Partisipasi Sistem Poin (PPS) adalah strategi sederhana yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa. Dalam Partisipasi Sistem Poin (PPS) Para siswa diberikan poin setiap kali mereka menjawab dengan benar atau salah. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mengetahui pendapat siswa tentang implementasi PPS dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan desain penelitian survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah B, C dan D kelas. Teknik yang digunakan adalah sampling acak sederhana dengan gaya lotere. Data diperoleh dari kuesioner selama penelitian. Hasil dari kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa dari tiga aspek pada strategi Partisipation Point System (PPS). Partisipasi disukai dengan skor rata-rata 54,5, aspek berikut adalah motivasi dengan skor rata-rata 53,3 dan aspek terakhir adalah pembelajaran aktif dengan skor rata-rata 52,4. Ini menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi siswa dalam Sistem Partisipasi Partisipasi (PPS) adalah aspek yang paling berpengaruh yang meningkatkan keaktifan siswa. Dapat dilihat bahwa semua siswa menyukai strategi Partisipation Point System (PPS) dari jawaban kuesioner mereka. Hampir semua siswa menjawab setuju dengan pernyataan dalam kuesioner. Berdasarkan temuan, peneliti mengusulkan beberapa saran terkait dengan penelitian ini. Pertama, bagi para guru, untuk selalu menggunakan strategi PPS dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Saran lain adalah untuk peneliti lebih lanjut, disarankan untuk melakukan studi survei dengan objek yang serupa atau berbeda.
English Abstract
There are some problems in learning English in SMPN 7 Malang. One of the problems is low motivation in English lesson especially at Eighth graders. A teacher must have an appropriate strategy, the teacher in SMPN 7 Malang implemented Participation Point System (PPS) strategy in the classroom. Participation Point System (PPS) is a simple strategy used to increase students’ participation. In Participation Point System (PPS) the students are given points every time they answer correctly or incorrectly. This research focuses on to know the students’ opinions about the implementation of PPS in English lesson. In this research, the researcher used survey research design with quantitative approach. The sample in this study was B, C and D classes. The technique used was simple random sampling with lottery’s style. The data were obtained from questionnaire during the research. The result from the questionnaire showed that from three aspects on Participation Point System (PPS) strategy. Participation was favored with 54.5 mean score, the following aspect was motivation with 53.3 mean score and the last aspect was active learning with 52.4 mean score. It showed that students’ participation in Participation Point System (PPS) was the most influential aspect that improves students’ activeness. It can be seen that all of the students like Participation Point System (PPS) strategy from their questionnaires’ answers. Almost all of the students answered agree with the statement in the questionnaire. Based on the findings the researcher propose some suggestion related to this research. First, for the teachers, to always uses PPS strategy in English teaching. The other suggestion is for the further researcher, it is suggested to conduct survey study with a similar or different object.
