Abstract
Logo adalah tanda yang menyebabkan kita memikirkan sesuatu yang melampaui kesan hal itu sendiri membuat indera. Logo menjadi hal terpenting dari komponen visual dalam suatu organisasi. Ini memicu ingatan orang tentang implementasi logo dan memberikan dampak yang lebih besar yang dapat dilakukan oleh kata-kata. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan logo Hogwarts House sebagai objek. Logo dianalisis dengan menggunakan studi semiotika. Ada dua masalah yang harus dipecahkan, yaitu: (1) Tanda-tanda apa yang dapat ditemukan di Hogwarts Houses Logo di Harry Potter dan Batu Penyihir, (2) Konotasi apa yang dapat dibuat dari Hogwarts Houses Logo di Harry Potter dan The Sorcerer`s Batu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif sehubungan dengan penggunaan deskripsi yang jelas dan sistematis tentang fenomena yang sedang dipelajari. Data dari penelitian ini adalah empat logo rumah Hogwarts dalam seri Harry Potter. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa keempat logo memiliki ide yang sama yaitu mewakili karakteristik yang dihargai oleh pendirinya. Selanjutnya, peneliti menemukan bahwa desain setiap logo juga memiliki kesamaan di mana penggunaan Founder nama belakang, hewan perwakilan dan juga warna. Peneliti juga menemukan bahwa setiap tanda yang ditemukan dalam logo memiliki pesan tertentu yang terkait dengan logo. Namun, ada tanda-tanda yang tidak memiliki makna konotatif yang terkait dengan logo. Selain itu, setiap tanda memiliki kontribusi penting untuk membangun dan mendukung gagasan logo, sehingga logo yang terdiri dari berbagai tanda dapat dilihat sebagai seluruh tanda Bersatu. Singkatnya, logo Hogwarts Houses menggunakan tanda dan makna konotatif untuk mengirimkan pesan yang lebih dalam tentang nilai rumah bersama dengan sifat-sifat rumah. Penulis menyarankan untuk para peneliti berikutnya yang tertarik pada semiotika untuk melakukan penelitian menggunakan objek lain di Harry Potter, seperti simbol Hallow dan Horcruxes. Selain itu, peneliti juga menyarankan para peneliti berikutnya untuk menggunakan teori lain seperti teori Peirce untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang semiotika.
English Abstract
Logo is a sign which cause us to think of something beyond the impression the thing itself makes upon the senses. Logo becomes the most important thing of visual component in an organization. It triggers people’s memory of the implementation of logo and giving a bigger impact that words can do. In this study, the writer uses Hogwarts houses logos as the object. The logos were analyzed by using Semiotics study. There are two problems to be solved, namely: (1) What signs that can be found in Hogwarts houses logos in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, (2) What connotations that can be made of Hogwarts houses logos in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This study uses qualitative approach in relation to the use of clear and systematic description about the phenomena being studied. The data of this study are four logos of Hogwarts houses in Harry Potter series. This study reveals that the four logos have the same idea which is to represent the characteristics valued by its founder. Furthermore, the researcher finds that the design of each logo also has similarities in which the using of the founder last name, the representative animal and also colors. The researcher also finds that each signs found in the logo has certain message related to the logo. However, there are signs that don’t have connotative meaning related to the logo. In addition, each sign has an important contribution to build and support the idea of the logo, so that the logo which consists of various signs can be seen as the whole united signs. To sum up, Hogwarts houses logo uses signs and connotative meaning to deliver the deeper message about the value of the house along with the traits of the house. The writer suggests for the next researchers who are interested in the semiotics to conduct a study using another object in Harry Potter, such as the deathly hallow symbol and the horcruxes. Moreover, the researcher also suggests the next researchers to use another theory such as Peirce’s theory to improve the understanding about semiotics.
