Abstract
Dalam berkomunikasi, kadang-kadang orang melakukan tindakan yang dapat mengancam wajah dan menggunakan strategi kesopanan untuk meminimalkan ancaman. Penulis melakukan penelitian yang menunjukkan bagaimana anggota Dewan Perwakilan Republik Komite Etika Republik Indonesia menggunakan strategi kesopanan dalam uji coba etika. Masalah studi yang diusulkan adalah: (1) jenis tindakan ancaman wajah apa yang dilakukan oleh anggota komite etika dalam uji coba etika Setya Novanto?. dan (2) Jenis strategi kesopanan apa yang dipekerjakan oleh anggota Komite Etika dalam uji coba Etika Setya Novanto? Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif karena penelitian ini berfokus pada pemahaman fenomena sosial dari perspektif peserta manusia dalam pengaturan alami dan data tidak dalam bentuk angka. Selain itu, analisis dokumen atau konten digunakan dalam penelitian ini karena data penelitian ini berupa bahan tertulis. Penulis ini menggunakan 123 ucapan anggota Komite Etika sebagai data. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa mereka mengancam wajah positif dan wajah negatif dari pembicara dan pendengar. Tindakan yang mengancam wajah negatif pendengar adalah ketertiban dan permintaan, saran, dan mengingatkan. Tindakan yang mengancam wajah positif pendengar adalah ketidaksetujuan / ketidaksepakatan, kritik, mengeluh, dan menuduh. Tindakan yang mengancam wajah negatif pembicara mengekspresikan terima kasih sementara tindakan yang mengancam wajah positif pembicara adalah pengakuan. Strategi kesopanan dilakukan adalah 61 botak on-record, 23 kesopanan positif, 18 kesopanan negatif, dan 21 off-record. Penulis menyarankan peneliti berikutnya untuk belajar pada objek yang berbeda, misalnya, dalam buku, novel, atau film dan film. Peneliti berikutnya juga dapat menganalisis lebih lanjut tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pilihan strategi kesopanan.
English Abstract
In communicating, sometimes people do act that can threaten face and use politeness strategy to minimize the threat. The writer conducts a study which shows how the members of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia’s Ethics Committee use politeness strategies in ethics trial. The problems of the study proposed are: (1) What kinds of face threatening acts are performed by the members of Ethics Committee in the ethics trial of Setya Novanto?; and (2) What types of politeness strategies are employed by the members of Ethics Committee in the ethics trial of Setya Novanto? This study use qualitative approach since this research focuses on understanding social phenomena from the perspective of the human participants in natural settings and the data are not in the form of numbers. In addition, document or content analysis is used in this study since the data of this study is in the form of written materials. This writer uses 123 utterances of the members of Ethics Committee as the data. The study shows that they threaten both positive face and negative face of both the speaker and the hearer. The acts which threatened the negative face of the hearer are order and request, suggestion, and reminding. The acts that threatened the positive face of the hearer are disapproval/disagreement, criticism, complain, and accusing. The act that threatened the speaker’s negative face is expressing thanks while the act that threatened the speaker’s positive face is confession. The politeness strategies performed are 61 bald on-record, 23 positive politeness, 18 negative politeness, and 21 off-record. The writer suggests the next researcher to do study on different object, for example, in books, novels, or movies and film. The next researcher can also further analyze about the factors that affect the choice of politeness strategy.
