Abstract
Oposisi biner adalah konsep yang menempatkan dua ide, yang masing-masing dipahami dengan menggunakan oposisi terhadap yang lain. Konsep ini diterapkan pada hampir semua hal dalam hidup, seperti hidup dan mati, panas dan dingin, kaya dan miskin. Oposisi ini adalah penciptaan pikiran manusia yang dapat memandang antara itu dan semua entitas lainnya. Namun, kadang-kadang konsepnya dapat disalahpahami oleh orang-orang karena mereka tidak dapat menempatkan konsep dengan cara yang benar. Kesalahpahaman oposisi biner dapat menyebabkan konflik di antara masyarakat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis dampak kesalahpahaman oposisi biner terhadap masyarakat dalam film berjudul waktu. Pendekatan sosiologis diterapkan sebagai teori utama dalam penelitian ini. Ini membantu penulis untuk menganalisis bagaimana kesalahpahaman orang kaya dan miskin memengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat dalam film. Kedua, teori oposisi biner diterapkan untuk memahami konsep dua istilah terkait, kaya dan miskin, yang disalahpahami oleh masyarakat. Penulis juga menerapkan teori konflik sebagai teori untuk membantu menganalisis setelah kesalahpahaman dalam film. Teori dialog juga diterapkan untuk membantu penulis menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian ini adalah seberapa kaya dan miskin telah sangat disalahartikan oleh orang-orang sebagai label yang diperoleh sejak mereka dilahirkan. Ini memberikan akses yang lebih dan kurang ke beberapa priviledges seperti pendidikan, kesehatan, dan posisi politik. Kebanggaan untuk memperoleh gelar dapat mengakibatkan perilaku berlebih yang dapat memicu kecemburuan dan kebencian terhadap satu sama lain. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil akhir di mana ia ingin pembaca tidak membiarkan judulnya melupakan rasa kemanusiaan mereka dan dengan demikian menganggap mereka merawat dan rendah hati satu sama lain. Disarankan untuk peneliti berikutnya untuk menggunakan teori Marxisme untuk menganalisis perbedaan kelas sosial yang digambarkan dalam film.
English Abstract
Binary opposition is a concept which puts two ideas, each of which is understood by means of its opposition to the other. This concept is applied to almost everything in life, such as on and off, hot and cold, rich and poor. These oppositions are the creation of human mind that can perceive between it and all other entities. However, sometimes the concept can be misunderstood by people because they cannot put the concept in the right way. The misconception of binary opposition can lead to conflict among the society. Hence, this study is conducted to analyze the impact of the misconception of binary opposition toward the society in movie entitled In Time. Sociological approach is applied as the main theory in this study. It helps the writer to analyze how the misconception of rich and poor affects the life of the society in the movie. secondly, the theory of binary opposition is applied to understand the concept of the two related terms, rich and poor, which are misunderstood by the society. The writer also applies conflict theory as the theory to help analyzing the aftermath of the misconception in the movie. The theory of dialogue is also applied to help the writer analyzing the data. The result of this study is how rich and poor have been hugely mistaken by people as an obtained label since they were born. It gives both more and less access to some priviledges such as education, health, and political positions. The pride of obtaining the title can result in over-powered behavior which can trigger jealousy and hatred toward each other. This study gives the final result where it wants the readers to not let the title forgets their sense of humanity and thus take their sense of caring and being humble to one another. It is suggested for the next researcher to use the marxism theory to analyze the distinction of social class which is depicted in the movie.
