Abstract
Film Borat adalah film kontroversial karena film ini menunjukkan sisi yang salah dari Kazakhstan. Film ini menceritakan tentang stereotip Kazakhstan melalui karakter utama, Borat dan desa tempat Borat tinggal, Kuzcek. Teori stereotip digunakan sebagai teori utama untuk mengungkapkan kebenaran Kazakhstan. Teori itu juga didukung oleh backround sosio-historis Kazakhstan sebagai bekas negara Uni Soviet. Film ini dibuat untuk membangun pola pikir audiens bahwa Kazakhstan adalah negara yang memiliki banyak masalah. Selain itu, film ini juga menunjukkan keunggulan Amerika dari penggambaran Amerika Serikat sebagai panutan dari negara yang unggul. Futhermore, film ini merupakan representasi stereotip Kazakhstan berdasarkan Amerika. Film ini dibuat oleh Direktur Amerika dan film itu sendiri bertujuan untuk mewakili dua kelompok tertentu, Kazakhstan dan Amerika. Kazakhstan digambarkan sebagai negara miskin dan anti-Semit sementara Amerika digambarkan sebagai panutan negara besar. Dalam analisis tesis ini, film Borat adalah salah satu diseminasi stereotip melalui media. Film ini menunjukkan stereotip yang ditunjukkan oleh Amerika melawan Kazakhstan. Ada dua titik utama stereotip dalam film yaitu Kazakhstan adalah negara miskin dan Kazakhstan anti-Semit. Stereotip lahir karena faktor latar belakang historis Kazakhstan. Stereotip yang terkandung dalam film Borat salah karena sebenarnya kondisi Kazakhstan berbeda dengan penggambaran film. Kazakhstan bukan negara miskin dan Kazakhstan bukan anti semitik. Kazakhstan adalah negara terkaya nomor 43 dan semua agama hidup Harmony di Kazakhstan, termasuk orang Yahudi.
English Abstract
Borat movie is controversial movie because this movie shows about wrong side of Kazakhstan. This movie tells about the stereotypes of Kazakhstan through the main character, Borat and the village where Borat lived, Kuzcek. The theory of stereotypes is used as a main theory to reveal the the truth of Kazakhstan. That theory is also supported by socio-historical backround of Kazakhstan as the former country of Soviet Union. The movie is made to establish the mindset of the audience that Kazakhstan is a country that has many problems. In addition, the movie also shows the superiority of America from of the depiction the United States as the role model of a superior country. Futhermore, this movie is a representation of Kazakhstan’s stereotypes based on America. The movie is made by American Director and the movie itself aims to represent two particular groups, Kazakhstan and America. Kazakhstan is depicted as poor country and anti-Semitic while America is depicted as a role model of the great country. In this thesis analysis, Borat movie is one of the stereotypes dissemination through media. This movie shows the stereotypes that is showed by America against Kazakhstan. There are two main points of stereotypes in the film namely Kazakhstan is a poor country and Kazakhstan is anti-Semitic. Stereotypes are born because of historical background factors of Kazakhstan. The stereotypes that contained in Borat movie are wrong because in fact the condition of Kazakhstan is different with the depiction in the movie. Kazakhstan is not poor country and Kazakhstan is not anti semitics. Kazakhstan is the richest country number 43 and all religion live ini harmony in Kazakhstan, include jews.
