Abstract
Membaca adalah salah satu kemampuan bahasa yang harus dikuasai oleh para mahasiswa. Kekeliruan membaca adalah respon nyata pada membaca nyaring yang tidak sesuai dengan respon yang diharapkan. Analisa kekeliruan adalah prosedur untuk menganalisa respon yang tidak diharapkan dalam membaca nyaring. Retropective Miscue Analysis adalah prosedur yang digunakan dalam pnelitian yang meliputi proses membaca nyaring, menceritakan kembali, dan diskusi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meneliti hasil membaca nyaring dari tiga peserta penelitian yang diambil dari mahasiswa Sastra Inggris semester 3 di Fakultas Ilmu Budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan jenis-jenis kekeliruan yang dilakukan oleh peserta penelitian dan faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi dalam produksi kekeliruan oleh peserta penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Dalam tujuan untuk mencapai hasil penelitian, peneliti menerapkan teori jeni-jenis kekeliruan oleh Goddman dan Burke (1973), teori analisa kekeliruan menggunakan three cueing system oleh Goodman (1969), dan faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi dalam produksi kekeliruan oleh Kern (1988). Data penelitian merupakan seluruh ujaran peserta penelitian. Pengumpulan data penelitian meliputi proses perekaman dan mengubahnya menjadi transkrip. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga peserta penelitian memproduksi 48 penggantian, 51 penghilangan, 11 penambahan, 6 pembalikan, 43pengulangan, and 28 pembenaran. Untuk faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi dalam produksi kekeliruan, satu peserta penelitian dipengaruhi oleh faktor linguistik dan afektif. Sedangkan, dua peserta penelitian dipengaruhi oleh faktor linguistik, kognitif, dan afektif. Peneliti menyarankan untuk penelitian selanjutnya untuk menggunakan lebih dari tiga teori dan menggunakan metode lain agar hasil penelitian pada RMA lebih bervariasi. Kemudian, pengajar disarankan untuk menerapkan metode RMA dalam pengajaran kemampuan membaca. Terakhir, peserta penelitian harus meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dengan berlatih setiap hari.
English Abstract
Reading is one of the four language skills that has to be mastered by students. Reading miscue is an actual observed response in oral reading which does not match the expected response. Miscue analysis is an procedure to analyse the unexpected response in oral reading. Retropective Miscue Analysis was the procedure used in the research including the process of oral reading, retelling, miscue analysis, and discussion. This research was conducted to investigate oral reading of the three participants that taken from third semester students in English Departement of Faculty of Cultural Studies. The research objectives were to find out the types of miscue produced by the participants and factors contributing miscue production of the participants. The research used qualitative research method. In order to achieve the research objective, the research attempted theory of types of miscue by Goodman and Burke (1973), theory of miscue analysis using three cueing system by Goodman (1969), and theory of factors contributing miscue production by Kern (1988). The data of the reserach were all utterances of three participants. In order to gather the data the process was recorded and changed into transcription. The result showed that three participants produced 48 substitutions, 51 omission, 11 insertions, 6 reversal, 43 repetitions, and 28 self-corrections. For the factors contributing in miscue production, one participant was influenced by linguistic and affective factor. Meanwhile, the other two participants were influenced by linguistic, cognitive, and affective factors. The reseacher suggests for the future research to use more than three theories and use another method to make the variation reseach in RMA. Then, the lecture has to implement the RMA method in teaching reading skills. The last, the participants have to improve their reading skills by practicing it everyday.
