Abstract

Belajar bahasa Inggris melibatkan penguasaan keterampilan empat bahasa. Salah satu keterampilan penting yang perlu dipelajari adalah menulis, tetapi banyak siswa menganggap bahwa menulis adalah keterampilan yang paling sulit di antara keterampilan bahasa lainnya, terutama jika mereka menerapkan beberapa bentuk bahasa Inggris. Fenomena ini juga terjadi ketika peneliti melakukan pengamatan dalam SMP Negeri 1 Beji, siswa masih bingung untuk membedakan bentuk masa lalu yang sederhana dan sederhana ketika diterapkan dalam teks recount. Oleh karena itu, peneliti melakukan permainan board lampau sebagai praktik dalam pembelajaran menceritakan teks. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas sebagai metodologi. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 42 siswa VIII C. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam satu siklus. Tes tertulis, lembar observasi, dan kuesioner digunakan oleh peneliti untuk mengumpulkan data. Untuk menganalisis peneliti data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa skor maksimum siswa dalam pra-siklus adalah 71, sedangkan skor minimum adalah 51. Namun, setelah strategi telah dilaksanakan, skor maksimum siswa pada siklus 1 adalah 88 dan skor minimum adalah 77, itu Berarti semua siswa mencapai skor minimum standar yang 75. Pencapaian tes menunjukkan bahwa pengobatan berhasil karena siswa sudah memenuhi kriteria kesuksesan yang semua siswa memiliki skor minimum 75. Selain itu, hasilnya Kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih memilih untuk menggunakan permainan papan tense lampau dan mereka tidak memiliki banyak kesulitan dalam menulis teks rekor seperti sebelumnya. Sejalan dengan hasil ini, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa permainan board past lampau dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis rekor siswa. Ada beberapa saran dari peneliti. Pertama, guru harus memiliki banyak cara untuk mengembangkan murid-muridnya. Kedua, siswa harus aktif dalam proses belajar mengajar. Ketiga, peneliti lebih lanjut harus mencoba menggunakan permainan papan tense sebelumnya dalam mengajar keterampilan menulis.

English Abstract

Learning English involves the mastery of the four languages skills. One of important skills that need to be learnt is writing, but many students consider that writing is the most difficult skill among the other language skills, especially if they apply some tenses in English writing. This phenomenon also happened when the researcher conducted an observation in SMP Negeri 1 Beji, students were still confused to distinguish the simple present and simple past form when it was applied in recount text. Therefore, the researcher conducted past tense board game as a practice in learning recount text. In this reseach, the researcher conducted a classroom action research as the methodology. The sample of this research were 42 students of VIII C. This research was done in one cycle. Written tests, observation sheet, and questionnaire were used by researcher to collect the data. To analyze the data researcher used descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative. The result of the tests showed that students’ maximum score in pre-cycle was 71, while the minimum score was 51. However, after the strategy had been implemented, students maximum score in cycle 1 was 88 and the minimum score was 77, it means that all of students reached the standard minimum score which was 75. The achievement of the test showed that the treatment was successful because the students already fulfilled the criteria of success which was all of the students had minimum score of 75. Moreover, the result of questionnaire showed that students prefered to use past tense board game and they did not have many difficulties in writing recount text as before. In line with this result, the researcher concluded that past tense board game could improve students’ recount writing skill. There are some suggestions from the researcher. First, the teacher should have many ways to develop her students. Second, students shoud be active in teaching and learning process. Third, further researchers should try using past tense board game in teaching recount writing skill.
