Abstract
Lirik lagu dapat mengekspresikan kondisi sosial masyarakat. Lirik lagu juga dapat digunakan untuk mengirimkan pesan kebebasan dan kedamaian. Beberapa lirik lagu yang mencerminkan anti-perbudakan adalah lagu Bob Marley. Bob Marley dikenal sebagai penyanyi Jamaika. Lirik lagu Bob Marley berjudul Lagu Penukaran berjudul, Prajurit Buffalo, tidak ada wanita, tidak ada Cryand bangkit, berdiri suara kebebasan. Lagu-lagu ini mencerminkan apa yang terjadi pada orang-orang Jamaika yang dulu dijajah oleh kolonial Inggris. Penelitian ini mempekerjakan pendekatan historisisme baru sebagai teori landasan untuk menganalisis anti-perbudakan yang digambarkan dalam setiap lagu berdasarkan jenis bentuk perbudakan. Biografi Bob Marley dan referensi tentang kondisi sosial di Jamaika pada saat itu digunakan sebagai informasi pendukung untuk analisis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu Bob Marley mengungkapkan anti perbudakan. Melalui lagunya, Bob Marley menyebarkan pesan kebebasan dan kedamaian dengan merujuk pada pengalaman Jamaika di era kolonial. Disarankan bahwa peneliti lebih lanjut menggunakan pendekatan historisisme baru di lagu-lagu Bob Marley lainnya karena banyak lagu-lagunya menggunakan sejarah terkait dengan budaya Jamaika sebagai Rastafarian.
English Abstract
Song lyrics can express the social condition of the society. Song lyrics can also be used to deliver messages of freedom and peace. Some of the song lyrics that reflect the anti-slavery are Bob Marley’s songs. Bob Marley is known as Jamaican singer. Bob Marley’s song lyrics entitled Redemption Song, Buffalo Soldier, No Woman, No Cryand Get Up, Stand Up the voice of freedom. These songs reflect what happens to Jamaican people who used to be colonized by British colonial. The research employs new historicism approach as the grounding theory to analyze the anti-slavery which is portrayed in each song based on the kinds of slavery forms. The biography of Bob Marley and references about social condition in Jamaica at the time are used as supporting information for the analysis. The result of this study shows that Bob Marley’s song lyrics express the anti-slavery. Through his songs, Bob Marley spreads the messages of freedom and peace by referring to the Jamaican’s experience in the colonial era. It is suggested that further researchers use new historicism approaches in Bob Marley’s other songs because many of his songs use history related to the Jamaican culture as the Rastafarians.
