Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan implementasi klub percakapan bahasa Inggris sebagai program ekstrakurikuler Inggris di SMP Brawijaya Smart School, dalam hal kegiatan, bahan, media, teknik belajar, pendapat siswa tentang implementasi, dan masalah yang terjadi Di klub percakapan bahasa Inggris. Ada dua jenis kegiatan di klub percakapan bahasa Inggris: aktivitas indoor dan outdoor. Kegiatan dalam ruangan adalah kegiatan yang dilakukan di dalam lingkungan sekolah, sementara aktivitas di luar ruangan adalah kegiatan yang dilakukan di luar lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif untuk menggambarkan secara khusus pelaksanaan klub percakapan Inggris di SMP Brawijaya Smart School. Subjek penelitian ini adalah anggota klub percakapan bahasa Inggris, mereka adalah siswa dari Grade VII dan Grade VIII yang tertarik dalam bahasa Inggris. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan beberapa instrumen, yaitu: catatan lapangan, panduan wawancara, dan kuesioner. Data tersebut adalah informasi yang terkait dengan kegiatan, bahan, teknik media dan pembelajaran, pendapat siswa tentang implementasi, dan masalah yang terjadi di aktivitas indoor dan outdoor klub percakapan Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti menjelaskan dua kegiatan ada aktivitas indoor dan outdoor, termasuk kegiatan, bahan dan media yang digunakan, teknik yang digunakan, dan masalah yang diakses. Semua siswa memberikan tanggapan positif dalam bentuk semangat mereka untuk kehadiran mereka dalam bergabung dengan proses belajar mengajar dalam kegiatan indoor dan outdoor menuju implementasi klub percakapan bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disarankan untuk program ECC untuk menerapkan lebih banyak pertemuan bagi siswa untuk memiliki peluang yang lebih luas untuk berbahasa Inggris. Selain itu, guru harus menjadi model untuk disiplin siswa dalam waktu hambatan.

English Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the implementation of English Conversation Club as an English extracurricular program in SMP Brawijaya Smart School, in terms of the activities, materials, media, learning techniques, students’ opinion of the implementation, and the problems that occur in the English Conversation Club. There are two kinds of activities in English Conversation Club: indoor and outdoor activity. Indoor activity is an activity which is conducted inside the school environment, while outdoor activity is an activity which is conducted outside the school environment. This study used a descriptive-qualitative research to describe specifically the implementation of English Conversation Club at SMP Brawijaya Smart School. The subject of this study was the members of English Conversation Club, they were students from grade VII and grade VIII who were interested in English. In collecting the data, the researcher used several instruments, they are: field notes, interview guide, and questionnaires. The data were information related to the activities, materials, media and learning techniques, students’ opinion about the implementation, and the problems that occur in indoor and outdoor activity of English Conversation Club. Based on the result of this study, the researcher described two activities there were indoor and outdoor activity, including the activities, the materials and media used, the technique used, and the problems that accured. All of the students gave positive responses in the form of their spirit for their attendance in joining teaching and learning process in indoor and outdoor activity toward the implementation of English Conversation Club. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested for the ECC program to implement more meeting for the students in order to have wider opportunities to speak English. In addition, the teacher should be a model for students discipline in the obstacle time.
