Abstract
Interlanguage adalah sistem linguistik yang digunakan oleh pembelajar bahasa kedua dan ini dipengaruhi oleh bahasa pertama. Sangat penting untuk menguasai keahlian bahasa seperti berbicara, menulis, dan juga menerjemahkan atau menginterpretasikan. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti meneliti jenis jenis kekeliruan yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa semester delapan pada interpretasi mereka. Peneliti juga menganalisa kesalahpahaman yang muncul pada interpretasi. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menjawab rumusan masalah. Dalam menganalisa data, peneliti menggunakan teori lingusitic category taxonomy yang dirumuskan oleh Dulay dan Burt (1982). Data dalam penelitian ini adalah enam interpretasi yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa semester. Data juga diperoleh dari kuisioner yang telah dijawab oleh pembicara asli. Pada pengumpulan data, peneliti menyiapkan enam cerita pendek untuk di interpretasikan oleh peserta. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa persentasi kekeliruan tertinggi dalam interpetasi adalah kekeliruan morfologi (66,6%), di ikuti oleh jenis jenis lain kekeliruan (24,4%), dan persentasi terkecil adalah kekeliruan sintaksis (8,8%). Ini di sebabkan oleh perbredaan struktur kalimat pada Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia. Dalam Bahasa Indonesia tidak ada keterangan waktu. Peneliti menemukan kesalahpahaman yang disebabkan oleh kesalahan yang diciptakan oleh penerjemah berdasarkan lembar jawaban pembicara asli. Peneliti juga menemukan skala kelancaran penerjemah ketika menerjemahkan cerita. Peneliti menemukan bahwa masih ada banyak kekeliruan interpretasi yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa meskipun mereka mempunyai ilai yang tinggi pada kelas translation and interpretation. Peneliti menemukan bahwa bahasa pertama para pelajar mempengaruhi interpretasi mereka. Peneliti menyarankan kepada peneliti selanjutnya yang ingin melakukan penelitian sejenis untuk menggunakan peserta yang berbeda dengan teori yang lain atau sebaliknya untuk memperkaya penelitiannya
English Abstract
Interlanguage is a linguistic system used by second language learners and it is influenced by their first language. It is necessary to master the language skills such as speaking, writing, and also translation or interpretation. In this research, the researcher investigates interlanguage produced by the learner and analyzes the kinds of errors produced by eighth semester students in their interpretation. The researcher also analyzes possible misunderstanding occur in the interpretation The researcher used qualitative research in order to answer the research problems. In analyzing the data, the researcher used linguistic category taxonomy proposed by Dulay, et al.(1982) The data were six interpretations made by eighth semester students. The data were also taken from the questionaire answered by the native speaker. In data collection, the researcher provided six short stories to be interpreted by the participants. This study found the highest percentage of errors in the interpretation was morphology error (66,6 %) followed by other types of errors (24,4%), and the least percentage is syntax error (8,8%). It is caused by the different sentence structure used in English and Bahasa Indonesia. In Bahasa Indonesia there is no time signals. The researcher found misunderstanding caused by the errors produced by the interpreters based on native speaker’s answer sheets. The researcher also found the scale of interpreters’ fluency while interpreted the stories. The researcher found that there are still many interpretation errors made by the students even though they have high grades in the translation and interpretation class. The researcher found that the students’ first language influenced their interpretation. The researcher suggests the next researcher who wants to conduct similar research to use different participants with another theory or vice versa to enrich his study.
