Abstract

Pembelajaran adalah sebuah proses dimana guru mengajar murid untuk melakukan sesuatu. Sementara itu, pembelajaran adalah mendapatkan ilmu pengetahuan atau keterampilan melalui belajar, pengalaman, atau sesuatu yang sudah diajarkan. Di dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, guru dan murid melakukan beberapa aktivitas di dalam kelas. Ada tiga macam aktivitas di dalam kelas; aktivitas pembukaan, pertengahan dan penutupan. Disamping aktivitas, ada beberapa respon murid terhadap guru bahasa Inggris di proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan aktivitas-aktivitas di proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan respon murid terhadap guru dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya di SMP Wahid Hasyim Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah catatan untuk mengetahui aktivitas dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, observasi untuk mengetahui proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, kuesioner untuk mengetahui respon murid terhadap guru bahasa Inggris dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, dan wawancara untuk mengetahui pendapat guru tentang proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Dalam pengumpulan data, penulis mengumpulkan data sendiri. Dalam analisis data, data akan dianalisa dan instrumen yang lain akan mendukung data. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada tiga aktivitas di dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris; aktivitas pembukaan, pertengahan dan penutupan. Kemudian, beberapa respon murid terhadap guru bahasa Inggris; murid merasa bahwa guru mendengarkan mereka, menjelaskan sesuatu dengan jelas, membantu, percaya, dan tidak cepat marah terhadap mereka, dan lain-lain. Kesimpulan setelah menganalisa data, penulis menemukan tiga aktivitas dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris; aktivitas pembukaan, pertengahan, dan penutupan. Kemudian, penulis menemukan beberapa respon murid terhadap pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Dalam hal ini, murid merasa bahwa guru berbicara dengan antusias tentang pelajaran, percaya mereka, menjelaskan sesuatu dengan jelas, tidak cepat marah, membuat mereka memperhatikan pelajaran, pemimpin yang baik, ramah dan suka bercanda. Penulis juga menyarankan bahwa penelitian lain tentang proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris harus dilakukan untuk meningkatkan hasil dan temuan dari studi sebelumnya dan itu lebih baik dilakukan dalam genre lainnya.

English Abstract

Teaching is a process that the teacher instructs the students to do something. While, learning is the acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience, or something being taught. In the teaching and learning process, the teacher and students do some activities in the classroom. There are three kinds of activities in the classroom; opening, main and closing activities. Beside activities, there are also some students’ responses toward the English teacher in teaching and learning process. The study is aimed to describe the activities of English teaching and learning process and describe the students’ responses toward the English teacher in the teaching and learning process, especially in Wahid Hasyim Junior High School in Malang. This study used a qualitative approach. The data of this study were field notes to know the activities in the English teaching and learning process, observation to know the process of English teaching and learning in the classroom, questionnaire to know the students’ responses toward the English teaching and learning process, and interview to know the teachers’ opinion about teaching and learning process. In collecting the data, the writer collected the data by herself. The data is analyzed qualitatively and the other instruments were supported the data. This study shows that there are three activities in English teaching and learning process; opening, main, and closing activities. The students’ responses to the English teaching and learning process; the students feel that the teacher listened them, explained things clearly, helped them, trusted them, did not get angry quickly, etc. In conclusion, after analyzing the data the writer found three activities in the English teaching and learning process. They are opening, main and closing activities. Then, the writer also found some students’ responses toward the English teaching and learning process. In this case, the students feel that the teacher talked enthusiastically about the subject, trusted them, explained things clearly, did not get angry quickly, hold their attention, a good leader, friendly, and has a sense of humor. The writer also suggests that English teaching and learning process should be done to improve the results and the finding of the previous studies and it is better done in other genre.
