Abstract

Selalu ada hal yang saling berhubungan satu dengan yang lain untuk menentukan keberhasilan proses pembelajaran. Pengelolaan kelas merupakan tantangan yang paling berat bagi guru dalam menciptakan lingkungan pembelajran yang efektif. Oleh karena itu, guru harus tahu cara mengelola perilaku siswa seperti pemberian penguatan yang tepat. Penguatan adalah reaksi guru pada perilaku siswa untuk memberitahu perilaku mana yang perlu diperkuat, digantikan, atau dihentikan. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menganalisis jenis dan cara guru memberikan penguatan berdasarkan film The Ron Clark Story berdasarkan pada kisah nyata seorang pendidik dengan menggunakan teori dari Fisher. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian adalah; Apa saja jenis-jenis penguatan yang digunakan oleh guru di film The Ron Clark Story? Penilitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan fenomena yang dipelajari. Hasil penemuan dijelaskan dalam bentuk kata berdasarkan ucapan dan tindakan Ron Clark yang ada pada naskah film. Peneliti menggunakan checklist pengamatan untuk mengelompokkan jenis-jenis penguatan yang diambil dari teori Fisher sebagai instrument penelitian. Penggumpulan data memerlukan beberapa tahap seperti mengunduh dan menonton film, menemukan informasi tentang penguatan, mencari naskah film, dan menandai ungkapan dan tindakan yang mengandung penguatan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa Ron Clark sudah menerapkan penguatan positif, penguatan negatif, dan penghilangan. Penguatan negatif adalah yang paling sering digunakan oleh guru. ‘enforceable’ adalah salah satu penguatan negatif yang telah membawa dampak pada pembangunan hubungan baik antara guru dan siswa. Dengan begitu, peneliti memberi saran pada guru untuk menerapkan penguatan di sebagai strategy yang efektif bahkan untuk siswa yang memiliki banyak masalah sekalipun. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya bisa mencari strategi pengajaran lainnya berdasarkan film lain untuk memecahkan masalah pembelajaran. Untuk psikolog pendidikan bisa menerapkan penguatan karena banyak orang ingin mengalami hal menyenangkan tetapi menghindari hal menyakitkan secara fisik dan mental. Penerapan reinforcement yang tepat menjadi strategi yang sesuai secara psikologi untuk mengetahui keinginan siswa.

English Abstract

There is always interconnection of one thing to another to determine success of learning process. Classroom management is the biggest challenge for teacher in creating effective learning environment. Therefore, teacher must know ways to control students’ behavior such as giving reinforcement. Reinforcement is teacher’s response on students’ behavior to tell them which behavior is need strengthened, replaced, or stopped. In this study, the researcher analyzed kinds and teacher’s ways in giving reinforcement based on The Ron Clark Story movie which based on real-life story of an educator by using Fisher’s theory. The research problems presented in this study is: What are reinforcements used by the teacher in movie The Ron Clark Story? This study used descriptive qualitative research to describe phenomenon. The result of the study in the form of word, it based on Ron Clark’s utterances and actions in the script of movie. The researcher used observation checklist to classify kinds of reinforcements that was adopted from Fisher as the research instrument. Data collection required several steps which were downloading and watching movie, founding information of reinforcements, seeking movie script, and listing utterances and actions contain reinforcements. The result of the study revealed that Ron Clark has applied positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, and extinction. Negative reinforcement is the most often used by the teacher. Enforceable is one of negative reinforcement that brings positive impact in building good relationship between teacher and students. Reinforcements influenced students to choose good behavior. Therefore, the researcher gives some suggestions for teachers to apply reinforcement as powerful strategy in classroom even for students who have many problems in learning. Further researchers can search another teaching strategies based on other movie to solve problem in teaching. Educational psychologists can learn implementing reinforcements because most of people want to experience pleasurable and avoid physical or mental painful. Implementing the right reinforcements can become powerful strategy psychologically to know students’ needs.
