Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian campuran tepung daun beluntas (Pluchea indica l.) dan tepung kunyit (Curcuma domestica) dalam pakan terhadap karakteristik karkas ayam pedaging. Penelitian ini menggunakan Day Old Chicken (DOC) sebanyak 120 ekor CP 707 strain Ross yang diproduksi oleh PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia dan dipelihara selama 35 hari. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan percobaan yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 kali ulangan dalam satu perlakuan, jika diperoleh perbedaan diantara perlakuan dilanjutkan Uji Jarak Berganda duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian campuran tepung daun beluntas dan tepung kunyit tidak memberikan perbedaan yang nyata terhadap karakteristik karkas yang meliputi: bobot karkas, persentase karkas, bobot dada dan paha ayam pedaging, dan memberikan perbedaan yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap persentase lemak abdominal. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian campuran 3% tepung daun beluntas dan 0,5 % tepung kunyit dapat memperbaiki karakteristik karkas ayam pedaging, khususnya dalam menurunkan lemak abdominal.

English Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine effect of beluntas leaves (Pluchea indica L.) and turmeric (Curcuma domestica) powders mixture in feed on carcass and carcass parts weights, percentages of carcass, and abdominal fat in broiler. The materials used were 120 Day Old Chicken (DOC) CP 707 Ross strain produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia and maintained for 35 days. The method used in this research was experiment in a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. If difference among treatments obtained proceeded by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The result of the research showed that mixing of beluntas leaves and turmeric powders had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on carcass weight, percentage of carcass, breast and thigh weights of broiler, but gave a significant effect (P<0.05) on percentage of abdominal fat. It was concluded that the use of 3% beluntas leaves and 0.5% turmeric powders combination might improve carcass characteristics by decreasing abdominal fat content.
