Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas tentang aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh Master of Ceremony (MC) dalam mengimplemntasikan image management melalui pandangan Dramaturgi. Apa saja pemahaman mereka dari aktivitas sehari-hari yang selalu mereka lakuakan, sehingga didapat gambaran hubungan yang jelas mengenai bagaiamana mereka megelola citra diri mereka dalam membawakan acara serta menjada citra brand atau perusahaan dilakukan melalui pekerjaan MC (front stage) dan bagaimana keseharian MC serta bagaimana mereka mempersiapkan performance mereka dalam membawakan acara (back stage). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana MC menerapkan image management dalam aktivitas mereka yang merupakan kegiatan retorika selama acara berlangsung, dan melihat keseharian serta perspektif mereka terhadap pekerjaan yag mereka jalani. Maka penelitian ingin menggali lebih banyak tentang makna image management bagi keseharian mereka. Dengan menggunakan penelitian berbasis fenomenologis, peneliti ingin menguraikan pandangan MC di kota Malang khususnya GEMPAR Malang tentang apa itu image dan image management melalui kegiatan retorika sebagai pondasi dasar MC yang berarti sebagai tugas pelayanan. Temuan baru yang didapat penelitian ini adalah bahwa prioritas utama dari tanggung jawab MC adalah memastikan acara yang mereka jalankan berjalan dengan baik dan menjaga citra merek perusahaan (klien). Sehingga mereka menerapkan image management dengan tampilan dramatis yang dibentuk melalui front stage dengan retorika yang baik secara kebetulan selama acara saja.
English Abstract
This study discusses the activities undertaken by Master of Ceremony (MC) in implementing image management through Dramaturgy point of view. What are their understanding of daily activities that they always do, so that obtained a clear picture of how they manage their self-image in the event and maintain the brand image or company is done through the work of MC (Front stage) and how MCs are daily and how they prepare for their performance in the back stage.. The purpose of this study is to find out how MC implements image management in their activities which is a rhetorical activity during the event, and view their daily and perspective on the work they are going through. So research wants to dig more about the meaning of image management for their daily life . By using phenomenologic-based research, the researcher wanted to describe the MC's view in Malang city especially GEMPAR Malang about what is image and image management through rhetoric activity as the basic foundation of MC which means as service task. The new findings of this research are that the main priority of MC's responsibility is to ensure that the events they run are going well and maintain the company's brand image. So they apply image management with a dramatic display formed through the front stage with good rhetoric by chance during an event only.
