Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan atas dasar pentingnya pemahaman Business Exit bagi entrepreneur atau pemilik usaha, karena banyak manfaat yang dapat diperoleh bagi pemilik usaha apabila mereka memahami pentingnya exit sebagai bagian dari entrepreneurial cycle dan berbagai macam rute exit yang dapat diambil sesuai dengan strategi dan kebutuhan masing-masing. Business Exit sendiri diartikan sebagai keputusan entrepreneur untuk meninggalkan usahanya, dengan memanfaatkan value atau nilai guna atas investasi mereka terhadap usahanya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pemilik usaha, demografi, dan persepsi pemilik usaha terhadap Business Exit, dan untuk menjelaskan faktor-faktor penentu keputusan untuk melakukan Business Exit pada usaha kecil menengah (UKM) di Kota Surabaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode exploratory dengan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk mengeksplor studi dan konsep terkait Business Exit yang masih jarang diteliti di Indonesia. Pemilihan Confirmatory Factor Analysis sebagai metode analisis data juga dilakukan untuk mengkonfirmasi konstruk variabel yang sudah pernah diteliti sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian dengan analisis faktor mengkonfirmasi bahwa faktor-faktor penentu keputusan untuk melakukan Business Exit pada pemilik UKM di Kota Surabaya terdiri dari tiga variabel yang membentuk delapan faktor / indikator. Variabel pertama, firm performance membentuk tiga faktor, yaitu size growth, sales growth dan profit growth. Variabel kedua, motivasi membentuk tiga faktor, yaitu necessity of income, additional income, dan wealth for profit. Variabel ketiga, exit intention membentuk dua faktor, yaitu frequencies of thoughts dan intention to exit. Konsep Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) juga menjadi salah satu faktor penentu keputusan / intensi pemilik UKM di Kota Surabaya untuk exit. Konsep TPB membentuk tiga faktor, yaitu attitude, subjective norm, dan perceived behavioral control.

English Abstract

This research was conducted based on the importance of understanding Business Exit for entrepreneurs or business owners, because there will be various benefits which can be obtained by business owners when they understand the importance of exit as part of the entrepreneurial cycle and variety of exit routes which can be taken based on their strategy and needs. Business Exit refers to a decision of the entrepreneur to leave his / her business, by utilizing the values on their investment upon their business. The main objectives of this study are describing the business owners and demographic regarding Business Exit, and describing the decision determination factors to conduct Business Exit on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Surabaya City. The method used in this research is exploratory method with quantitative approach to explore studies and related concepts of Business Exit which is still rarely examined in Indonesia. Confirmatory Factor Analysis chosen as a method of data analysis to confirm the previous existing construct variables. Results of factor analysis confirm that the determinants of the decision to conduct Business Exit on SME owners in Surabaya City consists of eight factors which formed by three variables. The first variable, firm performance form the three factors, which are size growth, sales growth and profit growth. The second variable, motivation form three factors, which are necessity of income, additional income, and wealth for profit. The third variable, exit intention form two factors, i.e. frequencies of thoughts and the intention to exit. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) concept is also one of the decision determination / intention of business owners in Surabaya City to exit from their business. This concept form three factors, such as attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control.
