Estimasi Cadangan Karbon Pada Berbagai Penggunaan Lahan Di Das Rejoso, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur

Prasetiyo, Endro (2017) Estimasi Cadangan Karbon Pada Berbagai Penggunaan Lahan Di Das Rejoso, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Land use in the Rejoso Watershed (DAS) is divided into various designations, are: natural forests 8.7% of total area of watershed (168.1 km2), 17.7% of home gardens, 43.7% cultivated land, 4.3% is settlement, 7.8% is irrigated rice fields, and 17.6% of shrubs. The diversity of land management that occurs in the Rejoso watershed may affects the amount of carbon stocks in the area, however the data is not widely available, therefore this research needs to be done. Research objectives: 1) To estimate carbon stocks from various land use systems (LUS) in Rejoso watershed, 2) To study the relationship between density of land cover and carbon stocks of LUS in the landscope. The data was collected from February - March 2016 in Rejoso Watershed, Pasuruan. The design used was Nested Sampling Design, with 5 LUS selected for observation, namely: Agroforestry complex, simple agroforestry, Timber Monoculture, Nontimber Monoculture, and seasonal crops contained in 3 zones representing the upper, middle, and under. Measurement of carbon stock is done by referring to RaCSA (Rapid Carbon Stock Apprasial) method. The variables measured were tree biomass, understorey, litter, nekromasa, soil BD, pH, texture, and total C-organic. The results showed that carbon stocks in various LUS ranged from 6.5 Mg ha-1 to 132 Mg ha-1. The largest carbon stock is found in LUS timber- monoculture of 144 Mg ha-1, whereas in LUS monoculture non-timber has carbon stock about 47% of than one in timber monocultur. Agroforestry system has an average carbon stock of 53 Mg ha-1, while the lowest carbon stock is found in LUS of seasonal crop averaging only 20 Mg ha-1. The tree biomass contributes the largest carbon compared to other components ie 69%, the rest is derived from understorey, litter, root and nekromassa. Above-ground carbon stocks contribute about 75% of total carbon stocks in the LUS, while the remainder is the contribution of soil and plant roots.
